Patrice, please clarify this as I don't understand re: QB/facebook
Does this or does it not allow IB to utilize posts on QB also of facebook. This is from the general terms. Thank you. I am not trying to start a problem but feel we should know exactly what the following means:
Member Content: Ownership & License
We do not claim ownership rights over your Member Content. However, you grant us a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free and non-exclusive license to use, distribute, reproduce, modify, adapt, publicly perform and publicly display Member Content through the Services, solely for the purpose for which such Member Content was submitted or made available. You grant each user of the Services a non-exclusive license to access your Member Content, and to use, reproduce, distribute, display and perform such Member Content as permitted through the functionality of the Services under these Terms and Conditions of Use.
Notwithstanding the foregoing, you understand and agree that once Member Content is incorporated into other aspects of the Services by Quilting Board and/or its members, Quilting Board is under no obligation to delete or ask or require other Quilting Board members to delete that Member Content, and therefore, it may continue to appear and be used through the Services indefinitely pursuant to an irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free license. You understand and agree that we may retain, but will not display, distribute, or perform, server copies of Member Content that have been removed or deleted.

it means exactly what it says. no need to read between the lines or hire a legal beagle to sniff out hidden clauses.
the primary purpose of the FB page is to market/advertise the QB.
even though there's a facebook page for the QB, the two are not linked in any way.
what's posted on the FB page does not show up here.
what's posted here does not show up on the FB page unless the person who maintains the FB page manually posts a link. she does link to photo posts so people can see examples of the beautiful works we share with each other here.

This is as clear as mud to me. I am very disturbed that our full names appear on the Quilting Board's Facebook page instead of our QB screen name if we make a comment. I enjoy commenting on the beautiful quilts on this Board, but cannot continue to do so if there is risk that my legal name will be posted on the QB's Facebook page. Until I know that my comments on this Board remain under my screen name only and not my full legal name, I will NOT post anything else to this Board.

I agree - clear as mud and agree with the not even wanting my screen name to appear there. If I wanted to be on facebook, I'd have a facebook account. I won't say never, but honestly don't anticipate every joining FB.

Patrice, thank you for taking the time to respond. I appreciate all that you and the mods do to keep QB up and running and keeping it a clean, non judgemental, non partisan forum.

I had not noticed the display of full real names.
We don't even have to provide our full real names when we register to be QB members.
that information is nowhere in the membership database.
To see them displayed on FB is quite alarming, I agree.
I also had not noticed that content posted here was displayed on the FB page.
I am not a lawyer, but I suspect this falls under "license to ... distribute, reproduce, ..., publicly perform and publicly display..."
Still, it's an unexpected development and I can easily understand your objections.
I have relayed this information to the person who maintains the FB page and asked that these things be corrected.
