Default Recent Topics vs. What's New?

I think these are the same things. I have the two windows open on my computer side by side. Is there an advantage to either one?

I don't really like either, I go to the bottom of the page where it has "contact us" and then "archive" if you click on archive it brings you to a page where you have main, pictures etc, click on which one you would like to look at and it brings up the most recent topics in order and then they change colour when you have read them so you can easily keep track of the latest topics. I hope this helps

You can get to the same place by clicking on the tab at the top of the page that says, "Home".
