Exclamation Status Reports: New Format (Update in Post #5)

We have a new format. Nearly everyone is unhappy about it for a lot of legitimate reasons.
We will not get the old format back. There is no point to asking for it.

There are some technical issues that do need to be resolved.

I am building a list for the technical team.
I will make note of constructive input and sensible new questions posted and add them to that list.
After about 24 hours, those posts will be merged into the general collection thread.

Complaints for the sake of complaining; those that have already been posted ad nausea; and anything else not helpful will be deleted. Members should not have to sift through all that in order to get the truly important information.

As I receive information and updates from the technical team I will pass it on in this thread.

Here is where we stand (as far as I can tell at this moment.) Unless otherwise noted, it's already on the fix list I am building. I'd love to say we'll get everything we want, but that might not be realistic.:

The Chat Room is gone. It will probably not be restored. If it is, it will be among the last things attended to.
Blogs are gone. I will ask for restoration, but it cannot be high on the list of critical fixes. I have already been informed that they don't know whether or not they can make that happen at all.
    • Smileys within posts don't seem to work.
    • The Feedback feature is missing.
    • Our albums are still there but the pictures are missing. (Hot item)
    • Search works differently for those who are not logged in.
    • The color and font scheme is difficult for many members to read. (Hottest item)
    • "Remember Me" option on login appears to be malfunctioning. It's unclear to me whether that's for some or for all.
    • Some threads and posts got lost during the migration. I don't think they can fix that. Please post them again.
    • Our avatars did not survive the migration. We can fix those ourselves. Click on the "User CP" [top menu] option, then scroll down to the "Edit Avatar" function to add it back to your profile.

The Privacy Policy has not changed. Internet Brands never has and never will sell our personal information. The new crazy link at the bottom of the page is the result of some equally crazy new law. It's nothing to worry about.

The new process for posting photos is less than ideal. I will ask if it can be improved. In the meantime I put together an illustrated set of instructions. That file is attached below.

Tomorrow is a holiday, so I don't expect any new developments until Thursday at the earliest.

Watch this thread for news as I get it.

I have added to the list the fact that the reminder emails - which used to link to Digests - now lead to nothing or to error messages.

I have asked that the emails be re-coded to lead to either "New Posts/Today's Posts" or to the QB home page.

In the meantime, please do not rely on the emails to connect to the QB.
We have never really needed them to get here. You can add any or all of these links to your browser favorites/bookmarks, put a shortcut on your desktop, or (if you are a total QB junkie like me) you can make it your home page.

    Home Page: http://www.quiltingboard.com.

    Newest threads by section: http://www.quiltingboard.com/sitemap/.

That’s the Archive, which lists threads, by section, in reverse order - newest first.

Newest threads and/or comments, all sections, newest first: Go to http://www.quiltingboard.com and then click on "New Posts". Those who are not logged in will see a link to "Today's Posts."
Try using the direct route. You might find you like it better. :-)

the reminder emails have been re-coded and should click through successfully to "New Posts." (if you are not logged in, they should point to "Today's Posts.")

there will be no more Digests.

so ... I'll bet you've noticed that nothing changed during the outage.

I finally got clarification of the reason for the down-time.
it had nothing to do with implementing the fixes I asked for.

they are working across the network and all sites owned by our parent company to ensure compliance with The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) is a state statute intended to enhance privacy rights and consumer protection for residents of California, United States. ... The CCPA became effective on January 1, 2020

Please do not flood the QB Help Center with new threads, or comments within existing threads, to repeat complaints or ask questions already asked and answered.

It won't help; it won't make the changes come any faster; and they might crowd out new information, newly identified and reported glitches, etc.

I have been assured that fixes are coming.
    No definite word about when.
