Kaelyn: Thanks for the link. I sure will use this one for those scraps that are too small or an odd size.

Finally, some progress. This isn't exactly MY ufo, but it was someone's UFO, so that counts, right? I was gifted 46 granny square blocks at a guild sew-in last month, when I offered to make them into a charity quilt (or two). So, I pulled the blocks out, made a few calculations and decided that with the addition of one extra block, I could make 2 quilts - an adult size and a child size. Then I figured out how to accomodate the fact that the blocks ranged from 8" to 10" finished. Most were the expected 8.5", but there was quite a variation in a number of them. These are the results. Sashings and borders (and backing in flannel) came from my stash.

Krista.... those are fantastic. The backings must have been the different sizes because the blocks look the same size now... or you did some wonderful majic. They are really cute. You have arranged them so nicely..... super job.

Thanks all. The purple block on the small quilt (second column, second row) jumps out at me as a "giant" - it was the 10" block, and the rest in this quilt are in the 8 to 9" range. But other than that, the magic of floating sashing hides a myriad of sins

Krista: Amazing job, both fitting them in and hiding the fact there are variations. Did not spot any outsized blocks until you pointed the one out. Lot of work went into those blocks, glad you made such beautiful use of them.

This wasn't exactly a UFO but it had been in my mind for about 14 years to make. I actually began it in January and took it to the LA quilter today so big sigh of relief. Have the binding made so am anxiously awaiting the next 3 weeks when it comes back. Here is my link. Now I can go back to working on actual UFO's. :-)
