2016 Fabric Moratorium

That happened with another buying trip I went on. I even sat down with paper and pencil and ended up getting 5 feet when I needed a lot less. I have to get that demon exercised.

Thank the LORD!! Just got the email with the new lines out by connecting threads and they are $9.48 a yard. nope - won't pay that - but if those lilacs were $5 I would have been in trouble.
I did however go to the LQS since I needed sashing/binding for a t-shirt quilt I am making. the perfect material was batik and was 108" at $19.99/yd. So I bought 1.5 yards of two colors. Just think - no seams in my sashings!!
Then they had some 50% off and I got another two yards of fabric to be used by my GD this summer in our sewing time. So realllly it is all for someone else!!

Darn it....I went to Hancock's Fabrics close-out sale and fell off the moratorium wagon! I make dog beds for a local animal foster program (save those little fabric scraps to fill them).........so of course I had to purchase the fleece when it was 80% off! ! ! So, I spent $43.00 and SAVED $157.00 ! ! ! (at least that's what the receipt says)! So, I think since it's for charity AND it will help me get rid of that huge bag of scraps......hopefully I get a "pass". Plus, I think I purchased to make dog beds for another year!

I'm happy to say that I finished 2 baby quilt tops (40" by 45") from my stash. I gave the tops to a person where I volunteer to machine quilt. I included the backing for both so that's even more fabric out of my house! I will probably do the binding on these quilts somewhere down the line.
I also delivered some fleece, knits, etc to the charity group. Thankfully, more fabric went out the door than I brought home from my church quilting group last week! Lol!

Nora, You got fabric for a great cause & you saved $157. Win/win
Retired Teacher: love them both, especially that giraffe fabric!

Great projects happening.
PP, it is not a new hobby - it is an old one being resurrected. I used to dabble in many creative artsy things but stuck with quilting as the MAIN outlet. Now I find that my overall creativity has suffered somewhat and I need to kick it back into gear.

I have bought enough fabric for 5 quilts. Last year I got one done for me and helped with 8 charity quilts. If that is the standard then I have enough for 5 years worth of quilting. I need to stop buying fabric. Monday it was 27 dollars worth of brightly colored fabric for a Grandma's Flower Garden and then yesterday it was 118.00 for a blooming nine patch 82 x 76. Before that it was 20 some for bargello placemats.

I finished the wall hanging for Hubby to take to Cancer Care and most of the supplies I used for it was in my stash. I did have to buy a few small pieces of batiks because what I had just wouldn't work, but I had a piece large enough for the backing and the sky, leaves and some of the tree was from my stash. I meant to bring it to work for others to see, but I forgot it. They'll have to settle for a photo because Hubby wants to take it on Monday.
