2016 Fabric Moratorium
#511
Way to go jane. I was at the lqs today finishing up yesterday's lesson. I ran out of time and had to leave to make my next appointment so I didn't have any time to shop. how is that for moratorium luck?

Hello, my name is QuilterMomma and I need to join this again. Recently I went on a spree again and just had to have that stack of fat quarters. Seeing how I was feeling like I had "fat quarters". I promise to make a couple quilts with my stash this month. Yep, there ya have it, I said it.

Thank you ladies on the compliments. As I stated, I need to be back on the wagon here. Hope I can get more done. Oh goodness.

Well, I had been doing extremely well with stash busting. Even turned down a LQS coupon yesterday at guild meeting and hadn't even looked at online shops for a few months. But this morning I was looking for backing for a neighbor who needs an old quilt top finished. So I was checking the usual websites. Wow! Whoopee! And then I could feel my feet hitting the road and now I have completely fallen off the wagon. They have Kona Cotton for as little as $3.77 a yard, buying 3 yd min. My Kona stash has been dwindling and they had quite a few of the neutral colors I tend to use and a few pops of colors too. Good news is my neighbor will be getting her backing at a great price! I posted over in Links and Resources the link to the regular width Kona at Fabric.com.

Over the last weekend we met my MIL for lunch and went to a few quilt shops. I hadn't been in an actual shop in over a year as my LQS shut its doors the winter before. While I did purchase two 1/2 yard pieces for a quilt I'm currently working on, I also purchased 2 1/2 yards of different pieces that will just go in my stash. I'll just call this a bit of a bump on the wagon.

Today I went to my guild meeting. We had it at a quilt shop 45 minutes away. (Talk about a buying setup). There was a demonstration on coloring on fabric. Yes, I bought a yard of fabric with a Christmas outdoor scene. I figure it will take me a year so so to color and make. I also bought a WH kit. It was in my colors and called my name (lol). I also bought some thread for quelling and needles. I. Think I did okay. I could have bought hundreds of dollars of batik, but I didn't.
I have 2 of my UFOs almost completed (using my stash). Just have to put on binding. So I guess I need to get to the sewing board, so I can get them done and post pics.

What are you coloring the material with?
Last Thursday I stuck out my food and hooked a piece of snowman material . Goes in the Xmas stash I have. Odds and ends got at thrift sho ps. The scrap I all ready chopped up and made 16 patch blocks.

I would use Inktense pencils to color. They are so vibrant.

This coloring uses white crayons as a base, then whatever color, then you put a paper towel on the spot colored and put a dry iron on the paper towel, which sets the color. Of course you should not wash the project. I've seen coloring and stitching and quilting on one WH. It's a great project for kids.
