Altairss that is a great find and love to see the fabric.

Well I went to a quilt show this weekend. Sat I did great - nothing came home with me but Sun was a whole different thing. 13 yards and only 1 yard was I looking for. I enjoyed Altairss photos so much I thought you might like to see my fall. Can you tell I rarely have seen a batik or blender I didn't like?

All four of these are Fairy Frost and while I'm hoping the first two might work for a FIL remembrance quilt I'll be making this winter for my MIL, I'll be just as happy throwing it in the stash. She requested a quilt and I requested she shop for the fabric (though I sent money). Best idea ever! She's finding it's not always easy to find fabric that's just right. The pattern is a bargello so 20 fabrics are needed. Will try to get a day soon to meet her so she can see my finds and perhaps go fabric shopping with her to finish up the picks if she wants.

She seemed to be stressing the choices to begin with and I told her just relax and have fun. Her choices might change as she goes along and that's okay as long as they go light to dark. Much better for her to pick than me and her telling me she doesn't like it. Prior lesson learned.

After this one I don't think I'll let people do the choosing. Colorway only (maybe!) and you get what you get as quilting is my interpretation. They can start to quilt to have their own.

I think I would have been hard pressed to go by the fairy frost too. Its one of my favorite blenders! And Batiks I have a whole shelf of them and I have yet to break into them lol. Yesterday was super stressful so hoping I can get upstairs and pet fabric. I need to inspire myself to come up with a quilt for a baby shower that somehow I got talked into hosting.

Altairss good luck on the baby shower. How do we get ourselves into these things?! I hope you did get to pet some fabric. I find quilting very relaxing (well when it's coming out okay anyways).

Reducing the stash even a little is good ljptexas. I'm finishing up my first pieced quilt back and I'm really liking the way it's coming out. I'm sure there will be more in my future. I hesitated as how do you get it to come out straight with the quilt top? But found a book and free online class that really helped. While not perfectly straight, I hope to improve on that.

I finally got the fabrics picked out for our guild mystery challenge. We are to choose background fabric for the blocks ...12" and or 6". I decided to do both sizes and found a small light colored background mini print that I bought years ago because it reminded me of my mom. For the larger quilt I chose a blue and cream Martha McClosky "Staples" fabric I purchased at least 10 years ago. The small quilt colors will be built around coordinating colors in the background. I'm planning a strictly blue theme on the larger one..going to dig in my scraps some more...

Yesterday we went to my BFF's daughter's graduation from the police academy 2 1/2 hours away. Afterwards there was a gathering. As we left, we had to stop and get gas. DH told me that we really should go by the LQS since we were pretty close. AMAZING, that man! We were there about 3 years ago and he remembered. I did pick up 4 yards of graduated color fabric. You know the kind that takes on the look of a partial rainbow?

Wow Martina. That's man's a keeper to remember that long ago. Isn't it nice to have support for our hobbies? Love those graduated fabric.

Sounds like everyone is having fun, finding great fabric bargains or returning to quilt shops from long ago. I'm trying to actually piece and quilt! It's a fabulous way to stay out of the quilt shops, both brick & mortar & online .

Boy is this a quiet group for the last 3 days. Or are we out buying fabric? LOL I know it's a 3 day weekend = Columbus Day weekend and possible Canada's Thanksgiving weekend? I have not bought fabric for a month or so.

Oh yea, I'm planning my next fabric buying for my birthday month which is coming up soon. Afterward I can buy whatever I want for a month or 2. I have to say, this site has slowed me down on buying a lot of fabric. This year I have used my stash 1st. So it is helping me greatly. Happy sewing and quilting everyone.

Life has been throwing us curve balls again. DH re-broke his collar bone and will need surgery. First surgeon's appointment isn't until the end of the month. - We had to put our old dog down on Labor Day and her sister is in quite a state. She now has a fast-growing tumor in her mouth that needs to be taken out by a specialist. (Read $$$$$). Vet said it was triggered by stress. - DH was told that his company is doing a restructure of the work force - there will be layoffs and if he gets hit, it will be 3 months shy of meeting the minimum retirement requirements. My work is crazy busy and I have anxiety attacks like there is no tomorrow. Soooooo I might jump off the wagon and go to the PIQF in San Jose next weekend. Don't think that would be a cheap trip.......
