2016 UFO Challenge of the Month

Thank you. It's so funny how so many have commented on the color choice. These are NOT my favorite colors, nor my intensity, but I had most of them in my stash...and decided to jump outside of my comfort zone!

tlambing, you made the classic color combination...complementary colors red and green...opposite each other on the color wheel, but with a different intensity. You say they are out of your comfort zone, but I'd say your color sense is spot on.

One UFO finish!!!!! Yippee!
This is about 4 years old. My niece made the top from my DMIL's stash that I was given to use for my church group. I decided I wanted to make quilts for my in-laws' unmarried grandchildren if there weren't enough in the quilt trunk. My niece knew I wanted to do this so she made a top from the stash for her brother. It got put away when he didn't marry his girlfriend at the time and I pulled it out last November when he announced his engagement to a sweet young lady.
My responsibility was to buy the kind of batting my MIL used and a sheet for the backing as was her tradition. Then I gave it to the Senior Center ladies that my MIL used so it could get hand quilted. I went to pick it up last week and put the binding on it today. I'm glad I finished it before the wedding this Saturday! Lol!
My MIL liked to give the quilts for the wedding showers but I only managed to do that for one of the 3 quilts that I finished for her grandchildren over the past 14 months. My son and DDIL got theirs on their wedding day just like my nephew and his wife will get theirs on their wedding day.

It is a fractured wall hanging. Cut strips, sew together, cut again, sew together. They end up at 3/4" or 1" square, tedious ...but with the right large pattern I love the way they look. Thank you for the compliments.
Retired teacher, lots of history behind that quilt, makes it even more special!

Nice finish, retired teach...Great story on top of it..
I pulled out a cow quilt that I started last year...she now has a tail, grass at her feet, and a couple rows of pinwheel overhead...now to finish her off with some facial features before quilting...
