I am excited to add another to the UFO count! I finally finished this table topper which is one of the first things I made in 2010 when I was first learning to quilt.
It was put aside when the quilting went badly and I knew I was going to have to take it apart and regroup. This time I used no batting, but backed it with a piece of denim. This gave it a nice sturdiness and weight.

Linda, that looks like a "stack and whack"! Am I correct? I just love how you improvised by using the denim!! I think that will make it more durable as well!!

I was taught that this is a kaleidoscope, and that stack and whacks are when you put 9 in a pile and cut thru, then move some to the bottom and cut thru again. I have never actually gotten a clear understanding about which is which.
My wonderful sisters-in-law taught me to quilt and at our annual get togethers I made both, when I was too new at quilting to know I was in over my head!!

As for the denim, I had a good sized remnant I pulled out and when I measured, it was exactly the right width and just 10" too long. I knew it was meant to be!!
