2016 UFO Challenge of the Month
#1622
I am finally free to work on UFO's and have started one. It's a simple pixel quilt using all 2.5" squares so it will be lucky to become a July finish, but that is my goal. I think I started this one in 2014.

Pic by drone, that's probably a first for this board. But..Toot, toot Anoka Quilter! Love this quilt! Great job on the quilt and for boosting our tally. Yes, summer is here!
Am happy to say I may have a finish tonight. I'm working on the binding now. If it takes me all night, I'm going to finish!

So far so good in finishing at least one UFO a month. So for June.....
This is the one I have been talking about; the king size quilt for our bed. I wanted something simple for our bed and when I found the pattern in the April/May 2013 issue of The Quilter I knew that Rail Fence Twist was the quilt pattern for the project. I started this quilt while at a retreat in March of 2014. When I picked back up this UFO in January I only had three rows attached, there are 10 total, and enough blocks for seven rows; which meant I needed to make another 24 blocks. This is the biggest quilt I have ever made, measuring 97 x 112, and is now happily residing upon our bed.
Hubby has a drone so we laid it out in the yard and he took the picture.

Nice finishes Jaba, Anoka and Rob! Things have conspired to keep me finishing a UFO thus month, vacation for 17 days and a work contract I've been making time for a little hand quilting, but most evenings I just want to flop on the couch and do nothing after work.

Am disappointed to report I ran out of thread 120 inches short on my binding. I knew I was running low but not that low Nothing I have will be close enough in color so today it's off to the LQS for another spool. At least I'll have a July finish.
