2017 Fabric Moratorium
#131
On the UFO thread, someone (I think it's Altairss?) was making a spreadsheet to keep up with her UFO's. I think I'm going to not only do that, but also have a tab for "Used from Fabric Stash". I loaded the second customer quilt on my frame yesterday, and it required 4 yards of my stash for the backing. If I can manage to stay on top of this, I think it would be interesting to see just how MUCH fabric I use (and hopefully NOT BUY!!) by the end of the year. As well as progress on the UFO's.
Now, I have to head home from work (I stay a little late at the office because of the faster internet connection! )

Oksewglad: Good save!
I made Merry Mayhem's New Year's Day challenge quilt top. It's 39" by 44". It will be finished by an organization for babies.
I have been busy making fleece tied blankets so my stash of fleece is shrinking. I can't wait until 'For the Love of Peyton' fleece party next month so the blankets are out of my house. . I have used around 25 yards of fleece that I purchased last year when Hancock Fabrics was going out of business. I still have more to tie!

retiredteacher09 - pretty quilts and good use of stash.
MadQuilter - thanks for the warning, and I agree. I will still need "fill in blenders" for the swap blocks but I plan to look through what I already have before I go buy. I like to use single extra-wide widths for backings and I buy those as I need them. I want to finish 12 projects this year and I should have the fabric to do it (except for backings). So yeah, I may need a hand up onto the wagon once or twice.

Nice NYD quilt. I like your colors. I have the project on my bucket list, after several other projects.

Those are lovely retiredteacher09! Way to use some stash too.
Oksewglad keep working on tilting those yardage numbers the other way - you can do it! I have pieces in my stash for years as cutting them still feels painful.
I did order a fat quarter bundle of kaffe fassett so my moratorium lasted 9 days. Back on the wagon though I can't wait for the fabric to get here of course!

Yes, yes, mam!! My stashes DO NOT need to grow!! I go to a local thrift store & look for sheets... Some I bought go on my bed (good quality) & some for using in backing of future DGDs graduation quilts... One time found lots of pillowcases...

Connie -- I like your NYD quilt. I didn't do it this year but kept the directions.
Well, it's 10 days into the New Year and I haven't even been tempted to buy fabric. I pulled from stash for the Mystery Train and will continue to do so for the other two I'm working on.
Someone mentioned keeping track of how much fabric is used from stash -- I think I might do that for 2017.

Everyone (well almost everyone: you know who you are OK), is off to a roaring start this year! I did some investigating and at this time last year we had 80 some posts, same thing in '15 and were only in the 30's in '14. This year it's 130+. Hope we can keep up the momentum!
