2017 Fabric Moratorium

Retired teacher -- great way to use up orphan blocks. I have a small tub of them and I never thought to put them in a row quilt. Thanks for the inspiration.

Here are two others I finished binding this weekend. Now I need to piece three quilts from swap squares received over the past few years. Whew!

Thanks, Belfrybat! I saw the idea somewhere. I am working on another one now and am thinking I may need to "frame" any crazy patch ones so they don't blend into the next block so much. It feels good to get them put in a top for my quilter's group.Nice finishes too.Connie

retiredteacher that is a beautiful orphan quilt! Belfrybat those are wonderful love the scrappy. I enjoyed the quilt show though time was of the essence. We were there for hubby's family get together. I was doing so good (had bought a ruler) until I came across the guild's area where they were selling. Then I weakened and 12 yards of fabric came home with me. But then with such great prices maybe 12 yards is some restraint after all. I would say it was like a consignment area for quilters. Wonderful idea and just couldn't resist so will pull myself back up on the wagon.

Tuffets
I made three tuffets--all from stash. Of course, I had to buy the tuffet kits for the guts and the feet. Does that count as purchase or stash?

Mary -- as I understand the "rules" (spoken lightly) only fabric counts. At least that's how I interpret things.
This week is the annual quilt show here in Abilene, so I will probably take an early birthday exemption (really early) as they always have a sale table with fabulous deals. Last year I snagged a whole set of X-Blocks for $10.00 and several pieces of fabric that were about $1.00 a yard. I've decided my $$ limit is $30.00 for the show, so won't go overboard.

I've been good too. Well, I've been sick (summer cold) so I have had no energy to do anything. I have to live vicariously through you guys. Keep posting the pretty pics.

My DH and I made a 5,000 mile road trip from Florida to Vegas and back to Florida in May. Only stopped at one quilt shop the whole trip. Had to do a quick trip to Vegas and planned on stopping on our way back home. We stopped at Quiltique in Henderson, NV. Reason that we only stopped at one shop is that we both came down with a terrible case of the flu and cold and didn't feel like stopping at any shops on the way home. We will be making another road trip in July/August from Florida to Wisconsin, thru Michigan and Ohio on our way back to Florida. Already planning stops! On that trip I will claim my birthday exemption and travel exemption. Not that I really need anything, but you know how that goes!

Sophie2: What a bummer to get so sick on a trip.
