Oksewglad, I love that rectangle idea. I have a lot of collections of fabrics from back when I was swapping mostly in 10" squares, one of them I gave up on ideas and sent out in one of my boxes was a collection of angel fabrics. It would be just like stained glass and a marvelous way to use up a theme in subject matter but not style or color.
I'm going to send the lady a link to this image!
In my own sewing stories of the Purple Quilt, I just finished pressing the quarter border units which are now done. Next stage is the squares, they are all pinned. Goal is to sew all of them today, or at least about half and also press them, but I'm feeling a bit lazy.

Awesome, among my collections of fabric I wish to use is a bunch of "jungle", including some of those 10" squares as well as various bits and pieces, some of which are large enough for a backing. I might have enough of a cheetah type print to use for sashing even, or my last purchase of new fabric was just yardage of kona black and white.
I'll check out the pattern and then maybe have to redraft a bit to make good use of the size of fabric I have.
I'm a big fan of what I call "simple but effective" projects for fun that I can zip out and donate. But I am really going to need to find someone to quilt them down with all the ideas I get from this board.

oksewglad, wow is right! Those are all wonderful. I just love the colors you used in the pastel simplish, and the butterfly quilt is so pretty. I can imagine how people who lost their possessions will welcome something beautiful and handmade.

Ice blossom, you mentioned going light, dark in your layout. Just a suggestion, what would a gradation from light to dark look like. It seems to be very popular last year and this year.

Great job everyone, and congrats to Teen and Elly on the home sales! Living out of boxes is no fun. We are still downsizing, even though we officially downsized ten years ago as far as our primary home, and sold a vacation home/cabin last year. Maybe we will be done next year. Hanging in there on not buying; the entire backing for Good Fortune (lap size) was pieced from fabrics most of which were no bigger than 1/2 yard.
Used a very old Christmas plaid for the binding on my oldest UFO. It was started in 1994. Not quite finished, but it will be done by the end of May. That will leave four completed tops that need to be quilted and bound. If life doesn’t get in the way, hope to have two more done by the end of May.
