joe'smom, I would say your star points are hugely contrasted with your background. I consider the background the large triangle of the flying geese. If you plan your top to be scrappy, any colors are fine.

Nice blocks so far everyone! I hope to be sewing mine on Sunday.

givio, it was block one (last month's) I was going to do over; I completely forgot to think about value when choosing my fabrics.

Nice blocks, joe'smom... I think you are right about the star points. The block looks sharper if there is a good contrast between them and the background. Don't know if I figured that out for the first block but I did by the second one!

I made my fabric selections finally and you will lots of color variations because I selected seasonal prints. Here is January. Hopefully tomorrow I will do February. I had to seam rip my first triangle because I sewed 1/4" on either side of the diagonal line rather than sewing the line. A bit too tired to see the allowance but got it done. It is square, I think the photo is off, well mostly

Cute block, duckling. It's going to be fun to see your seasonal prints every month. I really like your disappearing 4 patch quilt in your avatar, too! Pretty colors.

Finally got my third Feb. block done. Of the three groups I'm doing, I like these fabrics the least!

SBG is this supposed to be your modern prints? Didnt you say you were doing 30's, Civil War and modern? I think you did a good job of 2 color families. I think the prints you chose really make the pattern stand out!

Weeeeelll, more modern than the civil war or the 30's. They were just random picks from my stash.

    Thanks!

I visited my son and DIL and the grandkids this weekend. A nice long visit and didn't get to the sewing yet. I suppose I'll work on the blocks later in the week now.

I like those prints, SBG. The block looks nice sewn up. I will like my CW blocks best of my 2 sets... I guess I'm ready for that style after working on the MM NYD mystery quilt fabrics.
