I just came across this project. Definitely something I would love to do. I was wondering if I could use flannel. My daughter gave me her flannel stash. I shy away from this type of fabric since I believe it shows wear too much too soon. Any thoughts? Thank you

I would say no. Flannel is not as stable as quilting cotton so I would not choose it for patterns with lots of pieces. It makes great rag quilts and quilt backings, tho.

DJ I've only done flying geese on this BOM and on Mary Mahems New Years Day Mystery quilt. When I cut the triangles I thought keeping the angles from stretching would be hard and my material was a little thinner too. I am using all "scraps" and pieces onhand. Here's my 2 versions of Feb. Pink corners dont show well on the pic.

BRBeverly your blocks so far are perfect! I tried to change the color placement for my January block. I thought it might look more like a snow flake doing it this way. Maybe its more like a blizzard swirling around!

Those are pretty blocks, duckling. I like the rearrangement of your January block.

Duckling, your heart blocks are darling! That's some interesting color placement on the Jan. block.

SBG after thinking about Feb I decided to redo or just create another one. I think the minimal color palette got me thinking. I am going to change and put flowers, hearts and a rich brown for chocolate! That reads more like Valentines month!

Joe'smom doesn't it look so different with the colors that way? Both my sisters are excellent at selecting color and pattern. I am still working on it.

Duckling, Wow, you really changed up the Jan block! It looks like a different pattern that way. Your first Feb block is so cute with that center print-- it makes the second block seem plain by comparison.

JustKarin, I'd say flannel is great for a back. But there's nothing wrong with trying using it for piecing. See how it goes and if you like it, then you'll know after your experiment.

Duckling, what a complete differnt look from your first January blocjpk to the second...both are nice with your winter fabric.

SBG, I really like your fabric choice in your third February block. It’s fun to see everyone’s fabric combinations.
