Block one, half-stitched. I opted for edge stitching, but not sure that I'm totally wild about it. I'd really like to finish it tonight, but being as it is 11pm and I've yet to eat supper, methinks that I will stop for the night. Lol. At any rate, I can only get better from here, I hope!

Macybaby, your method is probably best - I'm scrimping by mushing the steps together because I don't have enough stabilizer, so substituted the batting. lol.

I'm going to have a busy month so I started on three of these blocks while I have time. I'm working on blocks 1, 2, and 5. Block 2 is complete, block 1 needs to be stitched down, and block 5 needs the embroidery, so they are all at different stages. Here is the finished Block 2. I really loved the variegated thread I used, DH stuffed my Christmas stocking with all kinds of crafty goodies and that was one of the things he gave me.

Here is my block #1 hand stitched. The dark blue was done without pressing the turned edge into the fusible web. That seems to work the best.
I still did it mostly the same, I used the fusible webbing on the fabric and then pressed around to get a good crease. I it down to about 3/16" and clipped the inside corners, but made sure not to go all the way to the crease. I snipped them first and then creased - but I did not snip any outside curves.
Then I pulled off the paper and pinned the piece down. I did not iron it again until it was all stitched.
Here is what it looked like pinned down. Some of the pressed edges are folded over. I found it was easier to place when I unfolded all the pressed edges.

kaelynangelfoot - love love love your no. 2 block fabrics, will you do the whole quilt in these ? Probably not, but I just have to say it would look fabulous. And is the embroidery by hand or machine? [ it looks like 'couching' ] Doubt if I will do this quilt, too many other things to do, but am going to follow along.
