Block #1....have block #5 already done and posted earlier. Working to finish #2 and decided to redo the half hearts block. I can see a couple of "issues" with this block #1 but it is the best I can do right now - might redo at the end if I think I can improve on it.....maybe..........

Thanks Mary, it scared me a little for a while so I did a couple of other blocks first, then I began to feel a bit adrift as I didn't know which one to go to next. So I went back to the beginning and try to adhere to the schedule - it just keeps me on target, otherwise I know I will drift!

What method did you use to place those many pieces on? I usually fold it into a pie shape rather then mark. Not sure what to mark with. It works doing the easy ones.

Kindle - very nice block! I do love the colors.

Ok - so I don't think I've seen a block I didn't love. It is so neat that just about any color combination looks great.

And I LOVE your donuts! I've never used Superior Threads, though I did get an interesting sample of them with my HQ, so I'll be trying them out.

I'm going to skip #3 for now and pick one I'm not so scared of.

Thanks Macy, ....Mary, I used saral paper to mark my background, instead of copying the design onto another piece of paper I gently traced the design onto the non chalked side of the saral paper and simply applied it to the black square then used a ball point pen to follow the tracing again. I was aware that this method avoids any problems regarding reversing the design. I made sure I marked the registration lines on the design and also marked the background where the fold where to centre it. Not sure if I explained this well...but please feel free to ask if not. Before I got some good chalk pencils I was concerned about the chalk from the saral not holding up and fading so i did a small running stitch on the marks so i had basically stitched the outlines of the design onto the background with an inexpensive thread.

I'm so excited, I received my book today!
Kindle: I really like your idea regarding tracing the pattern with small running stitches. Seems like a win win, won't fade and no problem removing.
I want to make the block about 9 inches big. Did anyone enlarge the pattern? If so what was the magnification?
Okay Lady's, get ready to mount those galloping horses, probably the only way my blocks will pass muster.

Kindle: Thank you for the link, a lot of good info and how great is it to have the % of increase all laid out. Going to keep a little chart of the percentages for future use. Going to get some of those applique pins think there great because they won't hang the thread up. So many ideas! One of the great things about learning a new technique.
