The middle border is just a wide 1/4 inch. I wanted some definition between the gold and the red. Someone had suggested a "micro flange" but you don't quilt over a flange and I am too new to frame quilting to want to mess with a border design.

Christy, the red is great, and your top looks beautiful! I have all my pieces made, but I am only half way through trimming them to size. I can't get a good photo of my design wall, but maybe when I get the top together, I'll be able to post a picture.

Thank you Leslie. I love the black border, but couldn't find anything locally that I wanted for it and then the red just jumped off the shelf and landed in my basket!

I can't wait to see yours! *I hate trimming, so I have to really push myself on that part.
