Siodach, love your green and gold version of the MQ. It's beautiful!

    lovely shares, thank you everyone.
    I've switched horses midstream

I made those 4" center blocks into strings, brown for the red and yellow blocks and grays for the gray blocks.
But I like strings on the diagonal rather than up and down, so am working on standard block placement with 1" sashings and gold corner stones. I'm liking it so far.

Which makes the setting triangles wrong... so my current idea is reverse every other one which will give me a straight border. Followed by a string border. Lots of thinking not much sewn I got all the sashing cut today and started the corner stones...baby steps.

    Photos in a few days.
Having played on the working wall with different ideas the gray blocks make a lovely quilt all by themselves. The headless geese give a little curved interest which is unusual.

What a beautiful quilt, Siodach! Love your color scheme. I see your stars clearly.

It's been a bit of an uphill slog, trying to find time to devote to sewing. I still have to make a decision about borders - I'm in two minds - do I make the first border from the green, to connect the triangles, or do I go with the neutral to complete that edge? Decisions, decisions.

I sort of feel that I've lost the emphasis of the dark stars, so I think I'm going to include a second small dark brown border too, to pull that colour up in the top.

And then what do I do with all these??

I love the colors you picked. I saw another quilt posted tonight with red triangles and the first border strip red and I loved how it all connected, but either way you go I am sure it will be lovely!

    Kate,
Wow! Beautiful color combinations. I see your stars just fine, sometimes when we stare at something for awhile we don't see it through "fresh eyes" Lots of little bits left over, some brave souls are sewing them together and making a pillow to go with the quilt. This has been so fun knowing you were in on it too. Sandra

Siodach, love your quilt! That's the size I'm aiming for. Do you know what the measurements are?

Just went and measured. It's 57 x 72 inches without borders.

thank you all for your compliments, and the reassurance that the stars still show up ok. I think I've looked at it so much I've stopped seeing it clearly, if you know what I mean lol.

I like that my green has stars in it too, good luck there lol.

As for my wee HST's - I use squares down to 1 inch as leader/enders, building them up to 4" squares. When I get enough I'll sash them into a postage stamp thingy. So the HST's will go along with them just perfectly :-). So watch this space - in about 4 years time <vbg>.

So sorry, Bonnie! Clue #4 was bad enough just once!

Siodach, your colors worked out so well!

I have 12 star blocks and 10 alternate blocks constructed. I just love these blocks; the red and gold are so rich looking. Since I changed the black square to an HST, I think my alternate blocks get a little lost. That black square really helps the eye find the block (but I wasn't willing to make those HST units over again).
