The way I make my borders - I sew all the strips together, then sew it onto the quilt. I don't sew each border separately because that would mean measure across and down the center of the quilt seven times! Yikes! Nope - sewing all the borders together first, then sewing them onto the quilt is the best, easiest and most accurate way.

Thanks for the additional information, Ladydukes!

Beautiful quilt, ladydukes, and thanks for the tip on sewing multiple borders onto a quilt.

That's the smart way to do it! Thanks for sharing your method.

I was wishing all the finished tops were in an album so I could scroll through them faster. I'm at the border stage and need inspiration.

I think cat-on-a-mac is the one who makes the albums. Maybe you could ask her if she would make us a album from this thread.

Those ¼ inch (?) black borders are perfect to set off the other borders, but the pièce de résistance is definitely the splendid control you used in attaching the black-and-white checks, Ladydukes. It is a wonderful set of borders.

They aren't 1/4" black borders - finish at 3/4 or 1", I already forgot! The "check" is not actually a check, but it is gold, black and creams. Everyone raved over that fabric. I used it in another quilt as well and it went well with it too.

After a three-month break, I decided to get back to my two Allietare projects that I started during the mystery. I finally have all the blocks pieced on the first project, and now I'm starting the setting triangles. I changed the center squares to exploding blocks. Here is the outcome so far. I can't wait to see this finished.
