You picked the same grey constant that I'm using! Love your neutrals.

I had never heard of ort jars before, and googled. What do you do with the contents when the project is done?

    Love seeing everyone's HSTs!

You cut your fabric the size of the paper. Place fabrics together and place the paper on top. Sew with a smaller stitch size - I use 1.5 so your paper will tear away easily. (I use newsprint. I got it in reams at http://www.dickblick.com/products/bl...ose-newsprint/. ) You can also use kids Scribble Pads from the $1.00 store. You stitch on the dotted lines, then cut on the solid lines. Then tear off the paper.

FYI, if your neutrals are a little too dark, turn them over and use the wrong side, it's lighter! I had to do this on some of mine.

Fling it I have two more, one by the bed, and one on the tray I carry around the house for hand sewing, they only have thread in them, no fabric. I think it is a German word

This one is nearly 3/4 full now, and I started it in 2009

Any scrap I can cut down to 1-1/2" I save, so there are pretty tiny pieces here. I cut frugally!

I've been reading thru this board, having a great time with it. I find I want to comment on things, but am so far back no one would even know what I was talking about. But this statement I have to ask. Just remember no question is a dumb question unless you don't ask it. Many of you refer to a "flimsy" what the heck is that? One not quilted or something maybe? I have loved those illusion quilts and peoples choice of fabric for the new mystery. I agree with so many of the statements made, too numerous to mention now. I can't wait to see the steps as they go along. I know in watching a doing some of Judy's mystery train rides that when some people showed their color selections, I was horrified, but the finished project was amazing. Kudo's to the brave that attempt, and it definitely is something to "just have fun" with. Now.....what's a flimsy, please.

A flimsy is a finished quilt top...no backing or batting.

Can you just imagine combining two loves, love of quilting and love of travel, sounds like heaven to me.
