thanks. I am going to have to try this method if we do more HST. I just couldn't decide if it was best to work with individual squares, or rows/strips or the entire printed page.

With the number of them we are making I think it would be fine to do a whole page. I haven't started yet and have not done the math to figure how many sheets of 18 it would be....but I know it is quite a few.

16 1/3 is what I come up w/ dividing 18 into total number of required hst.

I started cutting and sewing triangles today, using the Easy Angle ruler. My first batch was a mess! I was somehow getting a bowed cut with the Angle ruler. But they were all salvageable with trimming; it's just that one shouldn't have to trim with this method.

The second batch seems to be much better, but I can tell that my ruler placement isn't consistent from batch to batch, resulting in minor size variations. Sometimes it seems that my strips are just a hair too big. I'm hoping for better efficiency and accuracy tomorrow. I will have to pick up the pace if I want to finish by Friday!

using this ruler isn't as easy as it looks, I think many of us are discovering that. I had to toss/reject about 10% of mine. I did use your suggestion of stacking strips and that worked for me. Hang in there!

...Ok, are we going to do guesses?? My guess is that these lil darlings will be set aside and we will have something entirely different ​to do when the clue is posted on Friday.

Good to hear, because I have the same problem. It always feels better to know one is not the only one, having troubles. I started to get a bit more consistent yesterday and day before yesterday, but it still takes me AGES to cut. I am pleased however how the half square triangles turn out after pressing.

Planning to finnish this weeks clue tonight.

Podunk, Thank you for starting this thread! Jeanne S try the paper method. You can even just do a sample on and see how quick and accurate it is. I didn't care for the ruler, just too tedious and not as accurate.

Maybe we'll do the shape next that requires the other ruler. This is the first time I'm working with red as a main color -- very excited. I think this dark red and gold together are so rich looking.

I'm anxious to start cutting into my reds and golds, that would be a real fun combination to be working with.
