A double pink is a tone on tone pink. I think they were really popular in Civil War-era fabrics.

Kate, I feel your pain! I had to unsew some of mine as well because I did the same thing. Of course I will vouch for you! The highlight of our trip to Scotland was meeting up with you and your hubby. Hope to be able to do it again in a couple years.
Macybaby, your helpers are too cute! They look very busy with their work.
KalamaQuilts, those are so beautiful! Like Leslie, I wish I would have been doing these mystery quilts all along too.

So I am trying a blue for the red both with the black or with a navy blue.

What do you think everyone? Should I wait a while to see how the rest go together?
The terra cottas are looking very red on my monitor; it definitely doesn't look like Halloween to me. Of the other two photos, I think I prefer the two blues to the black and blue, but I think I'd wait awhile before switching.

Thanks Leslie. I am not precise by nature so it's something I work on. One of the reasons I love this forum, I learn so much. Yes, that's a creamy leafy batik I just picked up at a quilt shop in Taylor, Tx., about an hour away. It's one of three neutrals I bought for this mystery.

Windblown I like the rusty ones, don't think it looks Halloween. I also like the black and blues and the two blues.

Check out her free quilt patterns. Most are not quite as intricate as the mysteries but they're great quilts. I've done 4 or 5. There's also her leaders & enders challenge. Or you could buy one of her books. I've had fun and learned a lot since I started following Bonnie's blog.

Thought I'd share this 'word of wisdom' from Bonnie Hunter on her blog today:

"So yes – don’t go boring on your Allietare quilt and stay in the safe zone –pull into it what you want and make it FUN!"

This was in reference to her lesson on what neutrals are. Good advice!
