    MAY CHALLENGE 5-5-5-5-5

    Sorry I was out of the loop there. Long story for another day and post. I had an idea for a May post but Love the topic chosen ad hoc by nancia;

    A theme worked in five. Five blocks? 5 views? Or 5 colors? 5 media? 5 of anything in honor of cinco de mayo!

    Sweet little idea. Special kudos if you can have more than one element of '5' in your piece.

    I think I will begin by listening to that old jazz piece 'Take 5' on u-tube while I start sorting differing groups and ideas about fives and deciding what to do with them.

    Read, set, GO! As we are slightly late with our theme.......................

    I remembered that of course and still think it is amazing that our two kids ended up in both allied places from such completely different roots. (Altho Althea goes back and forth. And she was in Philly last month at a conference.)

    Anyway Althea's only in London for two weeks this time and then back to Austin for the visit of her potential new 'daughter' in June. Weird story; my hubby's cousin has a son who is in jail for bank robbery, over drugs. This guy's daughter is with grandma but since gr'ma is dying of cancer she has nominated Althea and hubby as the new caretakers. Jayden, the 10 year old has a case of cerebal palsy and so there are more complications of course. She'll be moving in with Althea and Sunil in Sept. as cousin is worsening. Isn't life full of odd convolutions? But I am fully intending on further spoiling Jayden with a cuddle quilt for her new residence. She has a Q I made her last year, but this will be a new beginning and so she needs a new one to go with the old one I figure. With luck I can get a great theme and technique idea that is also art going and also round up someone who is headed back to the US in the fall who will take it up there for me so I skip the fees for shipping it.

    Getting busy on my 5-5-5-5 this AM I think. That project I need to finish for a friend's Q will suit both the theme and be good for either wall in the summer and bed in the winter.

    i don't know, suz. is it smart having all these kids blowing kisses at each other around the world? we could start a pandemic! lol, as long as they do it in 5 steps!! tomorrow i'll do a little research for a decent dragon, never have been able to draw them. i love the disney dragon and helen reddy and everybody in that movie ( i know, i can't remember the title either!) and any way, do i want a serious saint george type dragon or a disney dragon? then i have to go buy bunches of large snaps to cover. for those other than suzie, i had an inspiration to make a dragon in parts and have snaps, of various colors on the quilt to add texture and color, and have the other half of the snaps on the backs of the pieces so the dragon can then be moved around and snapped into new poses. thus making an interactive quilt and incorporating my flower, the snap dragon. i know, i love puns, too!! LOLOLOL

    tkhooper ----- any way you could experiment with that window quilt and add the idea of the 5's? Or is it all planned and going forward from a long term plan?

    (I have this habit of trying to include the theme within something already planned or IP to try my brain further. What a complete oddity it is to get to do a fresh piece with the theme for me. Altho sometimes I will just start a fresh small piece to exercise my 'create' on a givien month)

    Welcome again.
