Bonnie Hunter's 2018-19 Mystery Quilt "Good Fortune"
#343
Wow - how fast some of you are! Looking good!
I finished all but 20 of Clue #1 and will go back and make the rest later. I have TWO of Clue #2 finished. There were enough squares in my scrap bin to make about 1/2 the needed Clue #2 units using the "draw a line, sew 1/4" one each side" method so for the rest I'll use yardage.
The only photo I have right now is on my cutting mat so I'll post pictures later.
One thing noticed with units this small, especially the 4patches, it is very important to be super accurate because it's very difficult to "ease" small units together. If we were making larger 4patches, well I don't want to say accuracy is *not* still important, but larger units are more forgiving.
I wonder if anyone has ever enlarged Bonnie's quilts.... bigger pieces and less units.

Thanks for the tip, Siodach! I would never have thought of that.
Heavenly blues, Tweety.
I'm all done with my first clue 1s, and almost finished sewing my second clue 1s. I didn't think the larger prints I was concerned about were a problem in clue 1, in fact, I really liked them. The greens will be my blues for clue 2.

Please help me. All of your 4 patches are square. Mine are off. These were cut on the AcQ Go, but the sewing could be off, the finger pressing could be too strong. I'm trying to iron with moving the iron, just pressing from above. I've fought with my scant quarter inch seam to the point where I went to the hardware store and bought a calliper. A scant quarter inch is 7/32nds. And I can actually measure that. But I'm not sure my seams are straight. Does anyone have any ideas?
I think I pull them out of square when I finger press.
Marcia

Your fabrics look wonderful, Lisa! I can't imagine doing 2 of Bonnie's quilts at the same time, especially at this time of year.
Here is the first batch of my clue #2. My blues are really turquoises, but the color isn't totally accurate.

There is a place on my design wall where I pin any piles of blocks or cuts that do not pass. I hope that there is a way I can sew these mistakes together for a Bonnie project. I save most scraps.
My fabrics came from Quilted Twins and a few from franks11, a seller on eBay.

You are all making great head way with these two clues.
I was still on the fence about this when I saw how small the four patches were. Now I'm definitely off the fence seeing these tiny HSTs. I'll follow along and download the clues in case I have a change of heart, but for right now I'll be cheering everyone along on the sidelines. Have fun!

This will be my 4th year of doing the Bonnie Hunter mystery. Good to see a lot of the same people from years past are doing it again. I am not adventurous as some so I am sticking to her colors. Like seeing everyone's work and all the tips.
