Welcome aboard, Tweety2911. Love your colors. I spent the day going thru my stash trying to see what I could come up with. Nothing so far. I may purchase like I did last year. I went with blenders and really liked the way it turned out. Helpful at $7 a yard.

Thanks for the input everyone. I think I’ll go with B. That green has a bit of the gold and coral. We’ll see how this goes. I’m only making half size so I may take this with me to get started when I visit my daughter for two weeks in December.

what are you using for your neutral? I count six fabrics total....just wondering...don't forget the background! I am using just six fabrics and not going scrappy this year as I have in the past....I only had to purchase the aqua....so I am mainly pulling from my stash....

I am not brave enough to branch out with different colors but admire you that do. I just dont have the eye for it.

Tankless systems should not cost that much. I have one . If your town has consistent water pressure problems, don't get it as the water needs to go through the unit with enough of a flow for the heater to stay on. You do need a gas line to the house, too. I've never seen an electric tankless system but that doesn't mean they aren't out there.

I'm looking forward to seeing your dying experiment! The first batch of dyeing is impressive!

How do you choose your colors, I have never had the problem before now. I ordered the first from a company I admired. [ATTACH=CONFIG]619561[/ATTACH]but finding it lacking in my view of it because it does not 'pop'.So I started picking from my stash:[ATTACH=CONFIG]619562[/ATTACH]then broke it down some more:[ATTACH=CONFIG]619564[/ATTACH][ATTACH=CONFIG]619565[/ATTACH]and really confused myself. The first commercial one has pieces in it, related and right tones but it has 'pink' in it and I hate pink. From my stash, I have enough to meet the yardage in each one. I favor the white with flying blue birds or the yellow, I think, for the light pieces. Then to choose from the light blue/purple or the three tones of it. Help, please. Thank you.

QNinaSue, I'm a little confused by your photos. Are you trying to choose a substitute for the 'framboise' from among the purples in the last photo, or are those meant to represent your five fabrics? I'm not sure which fabric is the yellow you referred to.

In picking fabrics for the mystery, I've always liked Bonnie's colors and have stuck to them. I turn a photo of the paint chips to grayscale, and choose my fabrics by how I perceive the value of the chips. In this case, I see two darks (dk blue, framboise), two mediums (med. blue, green) and one light (aqua), with the addition of neutrals that are supposed to be lighter than the aqua.

First photo is the choice of whom I ordered from ( I did not spread out the different pieces in each) . The next picture is 8 colors, green to very light to yellow, aqua, to reds to light blueish/purple, dark Purple. Third picture is just the blues, from a white background with blue birds, to a med. Blue and a dark purple to pull from. The light pieces are next to pull from, and the last picture I thought I had cut but I could pull from it or any the groups all from my stash. I want to avoid the 'pinks' that is in the commercial package of the reds. I have never completed a BH to date, but the Frolic caught my eye as I remember the Blue Bonnets we seen driving from Corpus Christi to San Antonio,Tx., for about 20 some years that we lived in Corpus Christi. The Blue Bonnets had purple, blue, white and yellow in the bloom. (Beautiful to behold) I have two different greens or three or more to match up with their green.

I am not close to any Lowe's Stores, since I live in the countryside, halfway between Des Moines, Iowa and Columbia, Mo., just over the Iowa border in Missouri. Since we have had our 77th birthdays this year, we don't drive long distances, very unlikely I can get any paint "chips". So I know I need some advice and help pulling the right colors together, and I hope this clarifies my photos a bit. Again, thanks for any help.

QNinaSue, thanks for the explanation! I don't think you need the chips; Bonnie put scans of them in her intro, and while they may not be perfectly accurate seen on computer, I'm sure they're close enough to get a good idea of the colors.

What I would keep in mind when choosing blues is that the med. blue should have good contrast with the dark blue, and should also be darker than the aqua. I think the med. blue in your first photo or the bright blue in the middle of your last photo would be the right value for the med. blue. I see an aqua in the photo of your lights, so that could serve as your aqua if you don't like the one the vendor sent you. Your dark purple from your second photo or the two darker blues from the next photo, as well as the dark blue from the top photo would all work as your dark blue.

So maybe start out by choosing your med. blue, then decide which dark blue you like best with that and your aqua. You could then decide on a green you like with them. It looks like all of your reds are reading as mediums, so I would look for something darker to serve as your 'framboise.'

I think some of the vendors preparing packs are choosing raspberry shades because 'framboise' means 'raspberry' in French; but Framboise is also a raspberry liqueur that is a deep shade of red, and I suspect that is what the color name on the chip is referring to. I think Bonnie described the shade as magenta/fuschia in her intro, rather than raspberry.
