Thank you.....I use Superior Monopoly clear thread and, for this block, I did a micro zig zag. Sometimes I just use a straight stitch.

Thanks teen. When I bought my Bernina, 36 years ago, they tried to teach me machine applique using the satin stitch and I hated it. Never tried machine applique again til this year, and I 've been doing the same as you.

I have never sewed with the mono threads. Is it easy to use? Does the thread melt or shrivel when ironed? Anyone interested---Judy's Mystery train started Saturday.

I'm doing Judy's Mystery Train too. Super excited! I have watched on the fence for the last few and now I can't wait to join in too.

Sewing with monofilament is no different than regular thread, Except for trying to thread the needle! Nothing happened when I ironed my blocks.

Ditto what Wannabee said; but to clarify, I only use it in top thread. Bobbin thread is regular cotton thread. I am extra cautious when using always holding on to end of thread and clipping as soon as I can. I have heard horror stories of birds nest in bobbin cases so I'm just paranoid now. Lol... I have an auto threader so it's easy for me to thread. Cannot speak for others who do not have auto threader. Does not melt using iron or dryer.

Ditto what Teen Said I would never try using monofilament in a bobbin.

Teen, your sunflowers are great. I really like the green color.

Thank you ladies so much. I been wanting to try it. I feel more confident now to use it. What color do you use in the bobbin? Do you match it to the fabric? or use a neutral like gray or beige?
