I finished the quilts I'm going to enter in the fair so I'm back to sewing the binding on my swoon. A few more days and it should be done.

I'm a beginner, and I'm going to start this as leader /ender to Hot for Chocolate which I'm working on now. I know this QAL will be long over with when I'm finished. It's so nice, I decided to give it a try anyways.

That's ok, morganfam7, people will keep finding it and starting it, so you should have some company. And some of us may start another one once ours is done... they are kind of addictive.

Morganfam7 I hope you post pictures as you progress. It's lots of fun to see how someone's quilt top looks. :-) I'm thinking about making another one too, and if I do, I'll post pictures of it. I need to finish quilting the first one.

Would it be horrible if I just did the middle star? And used 5" squares? Using caramel Bali Snaps charm packs that I got on sale surrounded by some of the greys from the licorice crackers? Maybe a solid as background, like cream or white.

I'm picturing something like a rough lone star quilt, but since I'm a beginner I don't know if the picture in my head is accurate.

I see it finished sort of like this:

    Will that look weird?

Oops, to be clear, I mean I'm thinking of doing only steps one and two. Then adding nine patches to the corners and trying that bias border and solid borders from the lone star picture above. I should end up in the 79"x88" range (full size with 12" drop I hope). I'm hoping it will look like a chunky type of lone star...

I'm working on one too. I think I'm due to finish step 5 or 6 tonight. I'll take a picture when I'm done with whichever step it was.
My contrast isn't enough either, but I think I'm cool with it.

That would make a beautiful quilt morganfam, the star right over the bed. I think it would be beautiful. Would love you to post a pic when you get there so we all can see.
