Grand Illusion - Bonnie Hunter's Mystery Quilt 2014
#1301
I finished my Clue #4 yesterday. We are heading to see family tomorrow for the holiday and won't be back until the 30th. Will have to wait on next clue until then. I have really enjoyed working on this, my first MQ. I would post pictures, but I can't figure out how to make them small enough to post.
Merry Christmas to all!

After doing some research I had an AH-HA moment, I moved the 1/4" foot from the Huskystar to the Kenmore and IT WORKED! I'm excited to get home this afternoon from a get-together and be BACK IN BUSINESS!

baronreads, so glad you're back in business!
Sophie2, is there any type of photo editing software on your computer? Usually they will provide a re-sizing option. I have a Windows computer and downloaded some free photo software called Fotor, which works well.
I am working on clue #1. I've regretfully eliminated my three darkest blues, which I loved. Because of the placement in the broken dishes unit, it was hard to distinguish them from the blacks, and I thought this might be an eyesore and possibly cause trouble with the mysterious illusion, whatever that turns out to be, which will probably rely on value placement.

I haven't yet started clue #4, but I am looking forward to trying my new 1/4" foot on those HSTs. I'm making 1/4 of the blocks to start with and if I need more to make it look right, I have enough fabric. I am making some of each clue in the week the clue comes out, so I can easily see what's what. It's fun and I'm glad I decided to give it a try.

I am about 2/3 done with Clue 4. I hope to finish up tonight and get everything cleaned up. My sewing room is also my guest room! Anyways, I have learned so much doing this Mystery Quilt. My clue 4 broken dish units are much better than my clue 1 units. Also, they are going together so quickly. Chain piecing, chain pressing, etc.
This has been so satisfying to me. It's like doing a huge puzzle. So . . . I just want to say THANK YOU to all the veteran MQ'ers. Their enthusiasm and encouragement has been phenomenal.

Up to date on all clues!
I've completed all the clues so far! I set my goal to get them completed so I can now make some Christmas treats, and if I have a few more minutes to spare, I hope to work on my Hunters Star quilt too.
Merry Christmas Everyone!
