Thank you, Sharongn. I guess the valuable lesson for me in this is, when the instructions say to pick a color, don't choose a neutral!
It seems clear to me this morning that the only thing worth doing is to start over with the yellow. I think I probably have enough left of the alternate E1 and the E2 that I won't have to rip.

I learned about following the rules for picking fabric too Joe'smom. I wish I would have picked a lighter fabric C but NO... I had to be stubborn and ignore the rules and what was suggested in the thread. Lol. I still like the way it turned out though. I posted my top on page 43 of you're interested in seeing how the yellow turned out in mine. 😊

So I checked, and I don't have enough of the E fabrics to make more HSTs with the yellow. If I have to rip out all of those HSTs, it's likely I won't get to it any time soon. So I think I will have to compromise, and use the ones I have, with the neutral, for the first little stars and the sawtooth border, and switch to the yellow for the inner stars.

joe'smom, I'd switch to the yellow. I think you'll be happier with the contrast the yellow will provide compared to your other fabrics. I used two fabrics that did not have enough contrast for my HSTs and am disappointed in that... My sawtooth border doesn't show up much.
