I have been sooooo good, see that glow in the east? That's my halo shining bright! I saw the cutest wall hanging, table runner thing and it says. BOO. My almost dgd calls me boo so i have to make one for her! I bought the pattern, not the kit. But while I waited. For the pattern to arrive , i bought 10. 1/4 yd pieces of h'ween fabric on sale, since it looks really halloween scrappy. Turns out i only need, like, 3 or 4 fq's. How was i to know? So I will make 2 of them. What the hay, maybe even one for. Me. And i need to do the costumes!! Before halloween would be good! Guess I'll have to make a h'ween princess and a h'ween fairy, and anything else halloweeny i can think of! Lol gotta love a holiday that is all about candy! No one ever comes to our house, guess it looks scary! Our across the street neighbor told my friend our house is a cave. Actually, you can barely see the house from the street. Mt knockout roses are over 6 feet tall, and my arborvitae cover up to the gutter. I will see if i can post a picture. I think of it as a gnome home! I bought new paint for the front door, purple, and I will paint morning glories on it. Lots of plans!

Madquilter: I thought you shouldn't go to the GROCERY store when you are hungry. Never heard anyone blame hunger for the reason they bought fabric. LOL
Nancia: The more I read your posts the more I would love to meet you. Let see, you live in a cave thats covered in roses, you will soon have a purple front door with morning glories on it, you play with dolls and you have a halo shining over your head. My kind of person!
Well, I must have been really hungry when I went to a garage sale that was advertising fabric. Twenty-two yards later, at $1.83 per yard, I have fallen from grace yet again. I hope no one remembers how smug I was when I claimed that my August fall was the last one this Moratorium.

By the way I keep wondering, why your Paper Princess and not Fabric Princess?

I'm the Paper Princess (who lives at the paper palace) because I make hand crafted paper items: invitations, party favors, place cards, escort cards, buttons, luggage tags, hand bound books, etc. I've done this semi professionally on my own & with event planners for 20+ years. I have several large die cutters, including the GrandeMark (a.k.a. Studio) which I got about 15 years ago, way before accucut spun off accuquilt. I have close to 1,000 dies (I really don't want to count). You should see my paper stash!
I've always sewn and started quilting about 4 years ago.

Paper Princess: Thanks for the "rest of the story". It amazes me that so many people on this board have multiple business/hobby past times. I am so busy with just quilting that I can't imagine taking on anything else. Only four years, you've come a long way. I have been at it since the late 60's and it has only really gained momentum since I retired.

Here it is, October 1st! Per the original post, this challenge ends on November 1, so this is the last "official" month, but please keep checking in till the end of the year. (I based the challenge dates on prior years' challenges which all ended on 11/1. I think this was so you could shop for holiday gifts and/or take advantage of year end sales).

How did everyone do in September? I fell off the wagon (actually I was pushed by my cousin), but I'm resolved to be good at least until the official end date!

I was really good in September. Didn't go any place to buy fabric and did not order any on-line. I think that is a first for me. I did good the first part of the year, but then DH took me on a Shop Hop. I knew I was going to retire in the summer so figured I would stock up. Now that I am retired I am staying home and working with fabric/kits that I have. I hope we have this Fabric Moratorium again next year. I have enjoyed reading about everyone falling off the wagon or being good. Happy Quilting!

I had to order a yard of fabric for a church quilt so I ordered enough backing for a Christmas present while I had to pay shipping. I didn't go to JoAnn's (50 miles) or either local fabric store, so I'm didn't add much. I AM doing better!

If this was the "how much fabric can you buy when you really don't need any more" group, I would be doing really really well. As it is, my stash grew over the year BUT not as much as in past years. So there is hope for me. ....and I hope there will be a new motivational thread when this year runs out. I plan to get back on the wagon.

The scary thing right now is that I miss knitting (my wrists can't handle it) and I suck at crochet. Then I saw a youtube of Tunisian Crochet which looks like knitting. I want to try that so badly but I don't want to create a yarn-buying monster.

Stay strong madquilter!

No fabric purchases for me in September. October is looking good. Some patterns/books are calling my name, but holding off on those too.

Ok! So far i have been excellent in October! Sitting in the front seat of the wagon with fabric tying me to the bench! Hahaha! Let's see ya get me this month, temptation!!

Emma-- i would love to meet you, too! It would be soooooo much fun to have a retreat in the middle of the country, so everyone could come to it! Just to clarify, the roses are at the bottom of my yard next to the sidewalk . There's a pesky little hill that runs between my house and garden all the way to the rose bushes. I am very glad the roses are there because they keep me from rolling into the street. When i play in the garden i have a " habit" of falling down, and then rolling down the hill( wheeeee!) to the roses. If they weren't there i might end up being run over or hitting a car and being charged with a moving violation! They would never see what hit them! Lol i do have interesting little prick marks in interesting places. The roses do have thorns.
