Kristakz - Love the scrappy quilt and what a great pattern. Did you make up the design yourself or is there a name for that pattern.

Glojean48 - I love the Dresdan Heart. All your finishes are beautiful but the heart is what really caught my attention.

Rryder, wow 2 more. Every time I see one of your pieces I want to try this technique. One of these days I may just give it a try, after I finish up a few more UFO's.

After all this is the UFO Challange, not let's start something new so it can become a UFO. :)

OhCanada/Valerie,

I LOVE your scrappy "Home is Not Where the Heart Is" quilt!! It's "country looking" without being too "primitive". I'm only just lately getting into the "scrap quilting" mode, so your quilt is definitely an inspiration for me!!

Great job!!
And by-the-way, don't worry about how fast you finish - we're not in a race here, except maybe against ourselves. I think our true focus with this challenge is finishing PERIOD - not how fast, not how many, just finish those UFO's that have been hiding (and probably reproducing, if you've read everyone's posts!!).

Welcome aboard!! :)

Oh my goodness, Glojean!! Those are just BEEEE-UUU-TI-FUL as my BFF's granddaughter would say. I especially like the heart that looks sort of "crazy-quilt" style - and I'm not really fond of crazy quilts. But yours is just lovely!!

And Krista, I just love the colors in your scrappy quilt!! I'm going to have to try to "capture" your pic, so I can have it for inspiration... when I get done with the UFO's.

I received a Keepsake Quilting catalog in the mail today. And the latest copy of the AQS magazine, along with their catalog.
I was a good girl.
I resisted temptation, and did not order anything.
I should pass them off to hubby to use for starting fires in the fireplace, but....

I am absolutely determined to NOT START ANYTHING NEW.
Well, except for 2 consignment quilts. I have two customers that want two very different types of quilts. So, I can vicariously "buy" for their quilts, which will definitely NOT be UFO's.

Glory is loaded on the frame, and I picked out the panto I want to use, and the threads I want to use. Aurifil - a deep burgundy for the bobbin, as the backing is a brick/burgundy batik, and a neutral beige/brown that I know from experience will blend surprisingly well with the reds and blues, and probably just disappear altogether with the cream on the front.
While I stir up my "want to" to finish Glory (as I've mentioned before, I'm really sick of looking at this thing!!), I'm pondering the UFO's that are left. I have two "animal themed" UFO's. One of them is from the Fat Quarter Shop (I resisted buying from their email today too!), I just need to remember what I was planning to do with the blocks that were not animals. The other is embroidery animals. I will need to dig out the diskette to finish the rest of the animal blocks for that one, as well as the setting pattern. Hmmm, now that I think about it, I could set that up and let it be stitching while I quilt Glory... embroider while doing 1 pass of the panto. How's that for "multi-tasking"? :)

RRyder, you have some of the most unusual quilts!! I'm in awe, as that type of art quilt is so completely outside my usual milieu!!

I am always amazed by quilts that have couching and crystals and stuff like that. I'm doing good some days to notice that I don't have "right sides together" on every piece (which makes for some interesting color graduations!)

Finished one more of those UFOs. Now to get a photo posted.

Thanks Leta,
I enjoy the improvisational nature of working on these pieces, but for some reason have always found it difficult to make myself finish them. I've got three more that are sandwiched and ready to be quilted. Then it's back to slightly more traditional ufos.--Four quilt tops that are pieced but need quilting. One quilt top that is cut out but not pieced. One quilt that has been pieced and quilted, but not bound because I have spent the past year trying to decide if I want to put a border on it. And a bunch of improvisational blocks that are put together and quilted, but I have been meaning to turn into a larger quilt....

Wow Rob, I love your original work and very happy that you are finishing these so that they aren't sitting in a drawer/closet. It makes me ponder about why some people (me included!) have all these UFOs. I feel really great when I finish a project that has been languishing. So why did I abandon it in the first place?

Thanks OhCanada. I know what you mean, once I get them finished I wonder the same thing. I think the UFO thingy comes from having lots of ideas swimming around in our heads--which is theoretically a good thing, but in my case I think there's a little ADD going on--it seems that once I get going on an idea there is always some part that begins to feel tedious--and another idea that just seems so much more enticing at precisely that moment LOL...
