I've already fallen off the wagon, but had a soft landing in a pile of fabric! On new year's day, I ordered some Connecting threads clearance stuff. My friend asked me to make some items for a craft fair and I "needed" some solids. In my defense I only ordered what I thought I would use and didn't add items to get it up to the free shipping mark...
I also think I have to join the UFO challenge. I almost always complete the piecing but have a whole stack of tops that need to be quilted...
On another note, last week we were having a string of nice weather here in Michigan. In the low 50's. Took down the outdoor Christmas stuff, and wandered around the woods. Even pulled a couple weeds near the house. The next day, woke up with one side of my face & eye massively swollen shut. those weeds I pulled were poison ivy... Had to go to the doctor for treatment. Getting better now!

Poor PaperPrincess! I guess the weeds won this one! But, remember, they paid with their lives! Good thing you stopped at only "a few"... think about if you had more energy and went after dozens of those weeds!

I blew it ladies. I bought 5 fat quarters for $5 at Walmart. I have been looking for Wonderland Fabric for over a year. And, they had a very very close if not knock off version at Walmart. So, I bought just enough to make the Wall Hanging I saw on Pinterest over a year ago. I am in the process of cutting it up right now. Sorry, but, I really couldn't help it. Or, maybe I could have. Who knows, I fell off the wagon. Not hard. But, a slip up is a slip up. I've been avoiding fessing up for a 2 days. So, time to face the music. I'm climbing back on the apple cart. I feel terrible. I made it in and out of JoAnns with no problem. I only purchased the thread and ruler I went in for. And, had a coupon for both. I caved in Walmart. I even hate that store. But, the Wonderland Fabric is adorable! I have a thing for bunny fabric. And, I have next to none on hand. But, this was purchase for a specific project. (Does that make it acceptable?) I feel if I'm asking, I shouldn't have......;) oh, the embarrassement…..:o

Judith: accountability helps "face the music". I think "buying for a project you've had in mind for 1 year" is probably OK.

I've been reading Nancy Crow, who has thousand's of yards of hand dyes. She's very focused on what type fabric works in her style

I think anything bought just because I like it and it adds a load to my already too heavy load is the key. Said in my hour of non-temptation.

I think we each need to stay at each other's house for a week and peruse each's stash. I'll bet there are some awesome finds to be discovered..

Well, if y'all came to my house to shop my stash, you could each take a couple precuts, 10 yards of fabric, and it wouldn't even show.:D

I don't care for WM fabric, and at our store you are hard-pressed to find someone to even cut fabric should you desire to. I was there this morning and just cruised right past the fabric section.

Judith, I might be tempted to let you back on the wagon next to me, providing you promise to be there for me when I go to our LQS sew-in on Monday. I haven't purchased any fabric since Thanksgiving week, so I am suffering badly.

Grann of 6 and Judith, you both need an encouragement chat! Come on, ladies, you can do this. Just avoid the temptations. No walking thru the fabric isles. The stuff will just jump up into your arms. They can sense people who have a warm spot and will give them homes in wonderful, warm stashes!!! Before you are tempted to visit a LQS, come here to get a pep talk, before you are tempted!!! :)

Judith, fabric for a specific project you've had in mind for so long and are already cutting up to work on would not count as a slip for me. A slip for me would buying fabric just because it is pretty and putting it on the shelf.

Before I took my machine to the shop, I did finish up on project from stash. I needed a last minute gift for a young boy, so I put this together from 5" precuts. The sashing and binding were from stash. Over Christmas, I had picked up some fleece throws as gifts for unexpected guests, and had one leftover. I used it as a backing, and did the fmq without any batting. I think I spent about 6 hours total on it without having to buy a single thing.
