Here are a few of my January finishes. I had a bit of a break from customer work after Christmas, and was getting antsy, so I dropped a few of my UFOs on the longarm while I had some time.

This quilt is from Missouri Star Quilt Company. I did a demo for my guild last year, and picked "Joshua's Star" - mostly because I'd never seen it before. Then, when the demo was done I made enough additional blocks to make a donation for Victoria's Quilts Canada. And the binding is a continuous bias binding made from 9 of the leftover layer cake squares.

This is my own design. I wanted to play with the corner border block I found in EQ, so I designed the rest of the quilt to go with it.

Not one of my favourites, this is a "One-fabric Quilt". I had bought a border print fabric to use with a mystery, and it just did not work when the quilt was done (way too heavy - the quilt has a lot of background space in it). So, I picked up the book at a guild and decided to try it out. Too wasteful for my tastes, so I fudged a bit to get as many blocks as possible - but that meant they did not all align perfectly.

If my phone ever gets its brain back, I have 2 more to post.

I beat my phone into submission, so here are the last 2 photos. That's 5 finishes for January! (so far)

This is my "Summer Sampler" from Freshly Pieced. I used my own fabrics, in an effort to dent my scrap bin (didn't work, but the quilt is all from scraps). And I resized the blocks to 10", so that I could donate the result to Victoria's Quilts Canada. Not a good idea - resizing from 12" to 10" is not that simple. A few artistic liberties were taken, to avoid trying to cut 0.4" and other odd numbers.

This poor little thing has never gotten and name, and since it's also headed for donation it won't get one. But I bought these fabrics about 5 years ago because I loved them. And then 3 years later hadn't done anything and no longer loved them. But I hauled them to a retreat 2 years ago as a "extra" project, and when it came up I created the design and pieced the top in one day. It topped my UFO list all last year and never made it, so it was actually my very first finish for 2019 (I felt sorry for it).

kristakz; I like the setting on Summer Sampler. Nice way to transition colors.

Was the Summer Sampler an Eleanor Burns pattern? She has an entire new book of quilts with log cabins in the settings, that same way. It’s called “40 Fabulous Years”. It commemorates her 40 years in quilting, and because her log cabin pattern is what made her famous, LC blocks are used in every quilt in the book. It’s on my wish list.

Wow, Krista congratulations on getting all those projects finished!

I have been AWOL from the site for a few weeks, looks like we have some great progress on ufos. Only thing that I have made this year was one microwave bowl too many obligations, but nothing scheduled for tomorrow so maybe I can find something to start working on.

Krista -- way to go! I broke Oksewglad's rule and started a new project this week. But it will use up a bunch of scraps and stash, so works for the Fabric Moratorium group. Then I'll get back to finishing up a few UFOs.
