I have five tops ready for quilting, but I'm out of batting and quilting thread, and all the online companies are in no hurry to ship! Does anyone have a favorite online store that ships thread and batting quickly during this crazy pandemic? Quilted Twins ships so fast, but they don't carry what I need. 😕 So, while I have no UFOs finished, I have tops piling up! Anyone else in the same boat?

5 year old UFO done. Check.
Now, to see what else is in the pile. Watson |
Watson- That's gorgeous and your quilting is amazing on this piece! Love the feather border.

NZquilter, have you tried google searching the batting you want? If you could find a smaller shop that carries it, they might have less of a shipping delay than the larger on-line shops are experiencing. Or maybe check on Etsy? I've ordered from Etsy recently and received items quickly.
edit Gorgeous quilt, Watson! Thanks for the close-ups of your beautiful quilting. |

I would call Marshalls and ask to speak to a wholesale salesman. They can tell you how long it will take to ship. It's usually pretty fast, but with this stupid virus going on, who knows? Good luck! |
Thanks, SBG! I'll look at Marshall's Dry Goods.
|
Watson: Very pretty and congratulations on the finish.

I have not kept up here as I should... not being able to post pictures is discouraging and my camera is not cooperating.
Heartfelt condolences to those of you who have had loved ones die or be sick from this virus. Cherry, sorry for your losses. I have tried to make a dent in my ‘to be quilted’ pile. I cut backings and batting for about 6 at a time and just peeled the top set off the pile when ready to quilt. Danger!! I accidentally picked up an extra top in that pile, as they tend to stick together, especially when using cotton batting. Yesterday I finished one with a fairly dense, all over paisley design. I did puzzle over why it seemed a little “stiff”... When I got it done and was trimming the edges, I discovered I had an extra topsandwiched in this quilt! To my horror, it was a really pretty one... pink scrappy tumblers with a few horizontal lime green bands. And now it’s lost...forever hidden in another quilt. I am 😭 about what I have done. Will only sandwich one quilt at a time, from now on. https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images/smilies/eek.png |
Oh goodness me, SBG!!!! That is a quilters nightmare! I'm sorry!
|
Oh no, Sewbiz! You can take it apart- I’ve had to do that before.

So sorry, sewbiz! What a shocker that must have been.
|
Oh. SBG, won't some museum curator be surprised in 100 years when then inspect your quilt for its batting and quilting and find an hidden top! They will be confounded! Sorry for the loss of a quilt top but you now have a new story for your family to tell.
|
Sewbizgirl: Oh, bummer! My heart hurts for you.
|
Thanks, all.... I was in shock for a couple of days, but last night I bound the quilt and called it finished. Moving on!
|
Thanks Sewbizgirl for your kind thought of me and I send sympathy thoughts to you for the loss of that top, a blessing will come out of all of that
Stay safe everyone cherryb |
I'm still delving into the scraps. Found a few more bins of them upstairs... https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images...s/confused.png I also started to put together my Farmer's Wife 1930's quilt blocks, which have been stacked in a pile for years! I think I'm going to love this quilt once I get it all together. Definitely a well seasoned UFO....

Giving this a try... if it works you should see my finished Carolina Crossroads, all made from men’s shirts.
The picture! It’s a miracle! |
Sewbiz, I’m sorry!! That mistake would stun me like a taser! All that hard work for nothing but an eztra pretty layer. At least you can count the finished quilt as two UFO’s done.
|
Zozee, this is true, the finish can count as two, I knew some good could come from that SBG, and that shirt finish is great also
Stay safe everyone cherryb |

Sewbiz...omgosh!! How disappointing for you. That totally sucks big time... However, I love love love your men's shirt quilt. Fabulous and so much work..
I am still quilting my Quilter's Patch so nothing new for me. It is really dense quilting so it's taking time. Trying stuff I've never done so taking my time. I refuse to relegate this to a UFO. Nope, not happening... My vow: I will get this done!! |
Sewbizgirl: Awesome quilt and congratulations on getting a picture to post!
|
Sewbizgirl - think of the pink top as a hidden gem, some kind of a sweet secret. And the shirt quilt is wonderful.
As restrictions are being loosened already here in Poland, I decided to order some batting. I should have some finished UFOs ready to present soon. |
Good morning everyone, as I stated in the VQW thread, this weekend I am starting to re-pack for that Georgia move so if you don't see me here, I finally doing it
Stay safe and check them out at the VQW cherryb |
Congratulations cherrybsixty on finally getting to make that move. Stay safe and healthy.
|
Cherrybsixty, you've had a long wait. I finally got moved yesterday! Now for the unpacking. Due to space constraints, my old Sjnger is still at my daughter's house. But I've located the boxes with my newer machine plus my fabric, so we're reunited at last!
|
Glad you ladies are finally getting to move! What an inconvenient time for a pandemic, huh? https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images/smilies/smile.png Hope all goes well with both the moves and settling in...
|
I unboxed my small sewing machine today! It's exciting since I havent seen it for 2 months.
|
Cherrybsixty and Conchalea- congratulations on your moves. So glad that things are working out for y’all.
Rob |
Took put an old UFO yesterday with a Bonnie Hunter pattern. So many fiddly pieces! So many seams. And its not coming together well - which it why I think I UFOed it in the first place. - I don't like her pattern (end grumpy gus). 2 more blocks to go.
|
Thanks to "retiredteacher09," "Conchalea" and congratulations on your move, "sewbizgirl," and "Rryder" (Rob), thank you for your kind words and prayers. Praying that the virus numbers don't change as much as they predict and everyone stay safe and have a happy holiday.
Stay safe everyone cherryb |
Rff1010, your post made me laugh. I sometimes feel ill-tempered when working on a BH pattern, and yet I keep going back for more, LOL.
|
Cherry....be safe in your move. Georgia is a lovely place. Much of my family (mainly mama) lives there I travel often.
Conchalea....so happy for you, too! I guess you sold your house after the first escrow took a dump. Exciting! Rff....I do not do BH patterns. Not my style and I have enough in my life to drive me to drink. Lol... I'm on the borders of quilting garden Quilt. This baby is almost done. Yah! |
2 UFOs finished! I feel so relieved. Both are for charity.
|
Just and update on progress here. I pulled out my unfinished Farmer's Wife quilt last weekend and counted up my progress. I got 11 blocks done this Labor Day Week-end week-end that gives me 71 of the 110 blocks. I call that progress.

In the mean time I've also started FW Pony Club blocks. Hopefully I can get back to those soon, too. |

Here is what I finished this long week-end. Progress, and I did one more today, not in the photo below. . Yes, there is one block that needs to be redone because it has no contrast. Another day. I now have 72 finished and one cut for tomorrow. Less than 40 to go! https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images/smilies/shock.png
Sewbiz, you are way ahead of me. I started mine in 2014 also. It must have been the quilt to do that year! Would love to see progress photos for inspiration. |

A friend gave me her FW book...I hope to do that pattern one day.
I just turned the corner onto Border 2. I have been quilting on this for a month on my domestic....I will lnot attempt this density again until I get a LA. Lol...But, oh..so happy almost done. Here's a peek sampling... |
