Sew cute, Bonnie...how many layers of flannel do you use?

sewbizgirl 05-03-2020 08:22 AM

Thanks, OK. I used to use three layers, but that's really too warm for our climate most of the year. So I now use only 2 layers and it works out fine.

What a wonderful finish, Rob! I love that you found the fabric you needed as a skinny bolt. Thanks for the close-up photos!

Sweet blanket, sewbiz, and what a lovely idea.

UFO top completed! Wahoo!

i can’t remember when I started assembling the blocks with donated Bert, Ernie, and Big Bird pieces. I do know it’s been well over a year. I would pull them out and work on them, put them away, pull them out, etc. I was planning to make enough 10.5” blocks for a 70” by 80” quilt top for my church quilting group. However, frustration and perhaps a light bulb moment had me thinking 1/2 pieced blocks and 1/2 plain blocks with a border would get me to the finish faster.

The orange is a batik and was in a donation. I had cut it into 10.5” strips somewhere along the line. It was not dyed evenly so I fussy cut 10.5” squares for the top and then some smaller squares before I cut the rest to 1.5” strips.

I still have a bunch of the Bert, Ernie, and Big Bird pieces. I am going to count them and then decide on how big to make them with scrap pieces. They will be combined with other blocks too.
