I like the idea of a planned OFF week to catch up as per MacyBaby's post #39. Only a 6" block is easy to roll off our lips but I bet that most of us have more than one quilting effort going on. When I stop to think about my own, I know of at least three and this would make four as well as trying to clear UFOs. https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images/smilies/wink.png I can spell "over commitment" but I still want to participate and make this quilt with the encouragement of other quilters. A little peer accountability is a good motivator.

Another option is to give two blocks a week, and then occasionally have a "catch up" week if several participants are getting behind. These 6" blocks can go very fast, so it might seem scary but I think once you get into it, most are going to find it's not too hard. And if you are using a constant background or theme of fabric, cutting more than one at a time might be a time saver.
It would be different if we had a lot of applique or paper pieced blocks. When I did Affairs of the Heart, one 6" applique block took me about 10 hours of hand stitching, and when doing the 50 PP stars, each star was made of 8 pp sections sewn together, and that was also a lot more work. |

Wow! Two blocks a week! I know that will be too much for me, but I will do what I can. I have white on white background fabric set aside now but will most likely need to get a little more eventually. I'm planning to use some of my favorite colors - turquoise, lime, purple, pink - mostly from stash, I hope.
