[QUOTE=Rff1010;8513603]Finally finished! 99x99 batik quilt. Rejected by the long arm lady, I pillowcased it and TIED the beast. It will be a donation for Habitat for Humanity
Remainder of donation quilts will be for Project Linus. Why? Smaller and the organizer is nicer.

It is very difficult to pin a quilt on the long arm after it has been pillowcased. Yes I have done it and prefer not to.

T'was pillowcased AFTER being rejected. I sent to the lady in standard flimsy condition, and she sent it back to me.

Why was it sent back? Some Longarm quilters do not have a frame large enough for that size- it takes a lot of extra work and would cost more but can be done. We would love to see your quilt. Tied quilts are great too.

Well a UFO finished for October. Off the list and on to the pile of donation quilts for PL. I started this last year when it was a sew-a-long with the Quilting Board, 2020 Birthday Swap group hosted by Barbara. Yes, it is a version of my avatar. I dove into my extensive collection of 2.5" squares and out popped a pink and purple quilt. The back is a mottled pink like the binding. Surely some sweet person will like the pink and purple made for snuggling and comfort.

Congratulations to every one making progress with their UFOs.

My UFO list has not changed since the beginning of the year. I have pulled some out and then put them back in their storage spot. I think there are 4 on the list. I’m hoping to get at least a couple done by the end of the year. At least none have been added. 🙂

I love that quilt, WMU - it's amazing how something as simple as a plain white sashed frame can tie so many disparate pieces and colours together. :-)

WMU - beautiful finish! I love that the squares are not all the same size. Adds a delicious unexpected element. I must try this sometime...

I'm denying myself any piecing until I get some of these tops finished off. 2 that are on deck: the green/white/ pink is quilted, and trimmed - just needs binding. The Sailor Shoefly is quilted but not trimmed or bound. Don't count them as completed yet...just need a little rah-rah as I enter the 4th quarter.

(Love my walking foot!)

Rff1010 - my latest finish is a version of a pattern by Wedding Dress Blue - Growing Up Odd. The pattern calls for 2" squares but I use 2.5's, easy adjustment. It is also my avatar. https://weddingdressblue.wordpress.c...-up-odd-quilt/
Good for you at holding strong on no piecing until you get some finishes. Rah, Rah! https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images...es/thumbup.png Self discipline is worth nurturing, but it hurts. https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images/smilies/wave.gif Those new quilts keep calling out,. "Try me! Try me! Try me!"

My sewing machine had to go into the shop for repair and they said it would be a couple weeks. So I figured- that’s fine, now I have no excuse to not get that stack of tops quilted. The one I have loaded is Ben’s largest quilt he’s made. It took me 3 weeks just to load it because I kept having trouble getting the back right so it would fit ( kept doing the math wrong & turning things wrong) Finally loaded it and got busy quilting. Yesterday I had a couple unexpected hours and was sure I could get it finished….
got down to the last turning of the bars and…CRAP! The backing is 4” shorter than the top! I still got it wrong….
now I have to unload it, cut off excess on the sides, add to the bottom, reload and finish quilting, and of course- no sewing machine to do that.
ugh
tomorrow I guess I will unload it, get the sides cut off and at least get it prepared, then load the next one on the stack. I’m going to start making sure I have a ton of excess all the way around to continue. I just can’t believe after spending so much time figuring it out I still did it wrong.
