Quilt Challenge!

Ahhhh! but the 'old time ladies' had a family that wore calico's and gingham...all women and girls wore dresses...every cook had a colorful apron. When they were worn out, all fabric was carefully inspected to see what could be used in a quilt. If the garment was still too good to be cut up for quilt pieces, it was passed on to a cousin...a neighbor...or whoever. And then there were colorful feed sacks and flour sacks. Many times the ladies couldn't collect enough of one pattern to make a dress or apron, so it went into quits. It was a very rare quilt that had a color theme, but they were beautiful!

I belong to a quilt group for the past 3 years and this is exactly what we do. We meet once a month and get the pattern for that month, most of them are lap size. The first year i made 11 of the 12 quilts, the last 2 years not so good. If you need some patterns let me know and I will mail patterns to you.

Hi from another Nana!! I would love patterns. Lap quilts are what I want to tackle first so hopefully I can manage to finish a project. There is a quilt guild that meets at my local library but I cannot plan to be there much because of my health so it's great to have something I can work on at home when I'm feeling ok.

I've done a lot of scrap quilts, but that's one i gotta try.
I used to use freezer paper foundations for my scraps but it's a pain to remove. These days I back with batting squares. A fellow guild member backs hers with cheap (washed) muslin.
