I like them all but the large pink one, but I'm not a pink person and haven't seen pinks in other Civil War fabrics. I think pink colors belong in the 1900's but I could be wrong. I know 1800's have burgundy and peach. Blues I recall as being smoky and teal, so yours fits right in between and should be fine. I am still waiting for my greens to arrive. Not even sure they shipped yet! They should be more Olive and grass greens. According to history, many of the older greens became nicknamed Poinson Green because their greens faded over time due to their dying process of that era. Doubt they'd sell much now if they called it Poison Green...Olive sounds a bit nicer! I'm still sorting fabrics and having a senior moment. Can you help? What is the name of the series of fabrics that read as solids, but are swirley? All I can think of is TOT and I'm not sure that's correct. (or maybe it is?) The blues work for skies, the browns work for earth, and the pinks look like a bad skin day! lol I'm trying to label my bins and can't think of the right term.

Jan, the pinks you are seeing in my brown on the far right are actually deep burgundy! So hard to get colors right in pictures. But there were lots of pinks in civil war era fabrics. They called them "double pinks" if they were pink on pink.

The fabrics you describe are what I call "tonals" or "blenders". TOT is right, too.

Yes you are right on both counts! When I dismissed pinks, I was thinking of another quilt I am working on that is circa early 1700's. That's when my ancestors settled here. No pinks yet! But yes pinks in the Civil War. Sorry. And yes, the word I was trying to think of was Tonals. I found some nice dark browns. I am going to PM you...

Here is my #12 Aztec Star.

That makes three, brown, gold, red and blue ones. My green fabric order is due tomorrow. If they look decent, the next three block will feature greens. Actually, I guess I will need to make one more of each color to get to 20 blocks and have the colors balanced. Playing with these is such fun! I think this #12 block is my favorite so far.

Jan pretty fabrics. I ordered some flannel pieces from thousands of bolts and I'm very happy with them. It only took 4 days to get here too. Here is my block.
