Many thanks to all. I will try to keep a stiff upper lip. It will hold the thermometer better.

NZquilter, you now have me thinking about alternate sashing colors. And I haven't even finished my original clue 3s, LOL!

I've stalled on block assembly, because there are some charity projects I'm determined to finish by next Wednesday. But I've figured out my plan, so thought I'd post my EQ photos here. These are very close to my quilt colours - I used yardage, not scrappy.
My plan is to make a small version, using Bonnie's layout (about 75x60"). Then I'll use the rest of the blocks in a square setting with double sashing. I'll need to make a few more sashing blocks (about 12 I think) and some more 9-patches, but I should have everything I need aside from that. Border colours will depend what I have left over. It needs borders, because this has to finish about 50x70" for donation.

Krista - I really like how your rendition looks going non-scrappy. the secondary pattern really pops. This has not been the result most of us are seeing with our own scrappy versions.

Rob: I agree with you about needing a note pad by my computer to keep track of all the great ideas and pictures so I can respond. This is a very busy thread.

Doghousemom: now that you mention the Easy Angle and companion rulers for the geese, that is what I used for clue 2 and I didn't have a problem with them. (I bought those rulers for another BH mystery) - but it's too late now, unless I want to re cut. I have already cut all the brown rectangles. This will help me master the Folded Corner ruler.

Sewbiz: I definitely need to master these geese. Very important for many quilt patterns.

AmyBible: Beautiful block. I'm thinking I should have gone more scrappy. I pretty much used 1 or 2 fabrics for each clue.

Macybaby: Amazing mini! I can't imagine working with such small pieces. I thought BH mysteries were small pieces.

Love reading everyone's posts and alternative blocks and settings.

I keep looking at Krista's post and wondering why the others don't look like that. I think it may have to do with the grey scale thing that gets talked about. the light coral and light aqua end up reading too similar, and the dark coral and brown end up reading too similar.

I've been more conservative in picking my fabrics, and went out of my comfort level for this one, and now I really wish I had stayed there as I'd get a more pronounced pattern and like it much better. Something to keep in mind for the next one

"That's kind of what I'm thinking. I like Bonnie's sashing idea, but to me it looks better in a darker tone. I was studying all the quilts I've seen since the reveal and I noticed I really like the ones with darker fabrics in the sashing... Sewbiz's, Podunk Princess', ect. Their secondary pattern shows so well because of it. And I thought in past mysteries Bonnie has always used a constant to help hold the pattern together. I thought I would do it too"

NZquilter, I might suggest a warm brown to make those diamond units. It would really tie all your colors together and give a constant verses the scrappy. I haven't started mine yet but I think that is what I am going to do. Use the same fabric for that coral sashing unit. I think sashing is a frame and should not be so drastic. JMHO

Looking at my picture again, something seems unfinished. I think the person who sewed salmon to all the cat's cradle blocks has the right idea. I like it more with that piece. Harder to piece the borders, but I'm thinking it might be worth it.
