I have been craving this all weekend. I don't have a "formal" recipe.
(It's 8 AM here and I would love a large helping right now  )

    How does everyone make theirs??

    TIA,

This one looks like the ones I've seen: http://www.cooks.com/rec/view/0,1943,132184-246195,00.html

One picnic party someone brought this dish and it was covered with foil. My uncle put it in the oven with all the other stuff that needed warming up. It "cooked" up okay! LOL!

This is the one our family uses:

    7 Layer Salad

1 head lettuce, torn in pieces
    1 large sweet onion, sliced
1 lb bacon, fried crisp and crumbled
    1 cup frozen peas, thawed
    1 medium head of cauliflower
    1 ½ cup Miracle Whip
    ½ cup Parmesan Cheese

    1st layer lettuce
    2nd layer sweet onion
    3rd layer fried bacon bits
    4th layer bite size cauliflower
    5th layer peas
6th layer spread miracle Whip over layers
7th sprinkle Parmesan cheese over layers

Let stand over night. Mix well and serve.

Hope it's the one your looking for. Enjoy!

How about leaving out the peas and using cream cheese mixed with Miracle Whip??? And then adding black olives topped with shredded cheddar cheese????

Sew Joyce: why not? Sounds yummy.
I just wrote it out as I make it... although I did forget to right that I sprinkle a little salt, pepper and about 1 teaspoon of sugar on top of the Miracle Whip or Mayo.
You can also add sliced hard boiled eggs....

I use a recipe real close to Tinks' mom, except I sprinkle about a tablespoon of sugar over the mayo layer, then the shredded cheese and then the bacon. And I like to use real bacon. It's a great dish for picnics.
