    Default Apple Crisp

My favorite Apple Crisp recipe seems to have disappeared.

Would you please post your Apple Crisp recipe - the crust has old-fashioned rolled oats, brown sugar, butter, flour, and a touch of salt.

I do not remember the proportions.

    I plan to use a 9 x 13 glass baking dish.

    Thank you in advance.

Also - can you leave the peels on? Or does it turn out better using peeled apples?

Apple crisp is one dish I don't use a recipe for. I don't usually peel the apples, cut up and fill whatever dish you are going to use. (I use a glass pie plate). Dump them in a bowl, add spices and a little sugar, mix all around, back into the pie plate. Then I cream 1/2 stick of butter and some flour in my mini food processor, add some brown sugar and spices, add some oatmeal and ground walnuts. Mix all this up in the same bowl. When it looks like enough to cover the apples, do so. Bake at 350 for about 45 minutes. Sometimes I add raisins or dried cranberries to the apples.
    Good luck!

    Thank you.

After looking up some recipes on the internet, it does seem like there are a lot of variations - that will probably taste more or less the same.

Cinnamon was in all the recipes I saw - nutmeg was in some, but not all of them.

My Mom made fabulous apple pies - unfortunately, I did not have enough sense to get her recipes - I am not a big fan of fruit pies or apples -

She gave DH around 20 frozen apple pies one year. He said it was the best gift EVER! from anyone.

1 envelope Betty Crocker oatmeal cookie mix
    1 stick cold butter
Cinnamon and/or nutmeg to your taste.

In large bowl, mix spices & cookie mix. Cut butter into this until crumbly & set aside.
    Peel & slice apples into a baking pan. 9 x 13
    Spoon crumb mix over apples.
Bake 350 until top is golden. About 30 minutes.

I can't remember if I peeled the apples, I probably did. This was the first recipe I tried in my air fryer. It can be made in the oven too.

    Apple Crisp

Place rack one level lower than center. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Baking spray an 8-1/2” x 8-1/2” Corelle baking dish.

    Pie:

4 (2-pounds, room temperature) Granny Smith apples, sliced thin

    1/4 cup Brown Sugar

    1-1/2 teaspoons Cinnamon

    1 tablespoon Lemon Juice

    3 tablespoons melted Butter

    2 tablespoons Flour

    3 tablespoons Water

    1/2 teaspoons Vanilla

Combine all pie ingredients and place in the baking dish.

    Topping:

    1/3 cup cold Butter

    1/2 cup All-Purpose Flour

    1/2 cup Old Fashioned Oats

    1/2 cup Brown Sugar

    1/2 teaspoon Baking Powder

    1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon

Using a pastry cutter combine all topping ingredients until it resembles pea-sized crumbs. Spread crumbs on top of the pie mixture in the baking dish, and gently pat to even it out.

Bake 40-50 minutes until golden brown and bubbly. Serve warm…

    Air Fryer:

Use an 8” round pan, 350 degrees, 35 minutes (or until juices are bubbly). The apples will continue to cook as they cool. Cool on a wire rack.
