Default Bake off winner: fresh apples, carmel. cream cheese

This award-winning recipe was prepared on a jelly roll pan and apple slices, carmel, and cream cheese formed alternating, diagonal rows. Perhaps from the mid 60's to early 70's era. This had been a big hit with myself and my childhood family members. I would love to prepare the recipe.

Yummy -- it would be easier to make it smaller for just the two of us.

It does sound like the above Pillsbury link. In the comments, someone noted that the original recipe had the caramel and cream cheese in diagonal lines. If you wanted to do that, you could follow the recipe in the Pillsbury link, but after doing the apple layer, follow the instructions from this link (where they changed the recipe to use a bunch of shortcuts): http://bakeatmidnite.com/caramel-apple-pie-bars/#

    "
Spoon caramel sauce in diagonal lines across the top of the apple, spacing each strip of caramel about 2-3 inches apart.

In a small bowl, beat the cream cheese, egg yolk and sugar until smooth. Pour cream cheese mixture in diagonal lines in between the caramel lines.

Sprinkle the caramel lines with chopped walnuts."

Oh, my goodness. My diet may have just gone down the drain! Just looking at the Apple '63 recipe, had me drooling.

Good luck, newbe, and I hope you reach your goal really soon, because I can't imagine waiting for a couple of years to make that like I would have to, to reach my goal.
