I love malt flavoring. If it's a syrup you could use it in these or any cookies. Try it any time you use corn syrup. You can even add it to BBQ sauce. If it's the powder trade a couple spoonfuls of flour in cookies, cakes, breads. Put it in chocolate milk or shakes. I always prefer malts to shakes.

If you make them, let us know how they compare to your Hobnobs. I have never had hobnobs so this was all new to me. I did not have golden syrup, so really interested how they taste for you.

I made the hobnobs day before yesterday--ate them all day yesterday--love the cookie and the ease of making. I put pecan halves in mine--used half butter and half marg.--mine baked at 300 for about 25 min (as orig recipe instructed.) I think next time I will press the balls just a wee bit and top w/sugar. Great recipe--thanks for posting it.

It is so easy to make cake or cookie from scratch I don't know why anyone buys the prepacked ones. The ingredients are nasty. Natural flavoring is not what you think it is. It's natural from where it comes but you would not want to eat it.

I made these and they are in the oven now. My toddler and pre K grandsons helped me. They kept eating the batter. LOL

They are soft and crispy and have a great flavor. I think they are a little on the sweet side for us so next time I will use 3/4 cup sugar. This is a keeper recipe.

These are so good! Just came out of the oven and my grandson is here for the summer and we are both voting that these are the best! The golden syrup came yesterday, I took a spoon of it and it is addicting! There are no eggs in these cookies so you could eat the dough if you wanted. This is a keeper! I will cut the sugar down to half cup next time.
