Default chocolate topping for ice cream

does anyone have the recipe to make a hot chocolate sauce for ice cream that hardens when it hits the ice cream? My mother use to make it and no one has the recipe. We just remember she cooked it and put it on the ice cream out of the sauce pan.

My mother just mixed sugar with cocoa then added condensed milk. She cooked it until when dropped from a spoon in a small glass of water it would form a ball that you could pick up. This does not harden like a dip, but remains thick and chewy. I so miss this from my childhood.

    joym....
Yes, this was a favorite. We kids would always fight over who would get to test it in the water. Maine is a beautiful state and has the best air than any state I have been in.

Don't worry about the fattening. Eating fat does not make you fat. It is eating sugar that is the culprit.
Your brain needs fat. It is made of fat, and wants fat to keep it working.
When you eat all that fat-free nonsense, your brain just keeps telling you that you're hungry. Give it some good fat: as in butter, coconut oil, bacon, eggs, cheese, etc. and you will feel satisfied. You will have much less of a urge to keep eating the sweet and salty stuff. Try it for a week or two. I actually lost my longing for sweet and salty.

Wonderful advice. I would add avocados and olive oil. Butter is a staple at my house as well as coconut oil!

Babies and kids especially need the fat for brain development. Should give baby whole milk after formula at 12 months not 1% or skim. Their brain is developing.
