We call these "chocolate no-bake cookies"...YUM
and I had been having trouble with them until a friend said to use WHOLE milk...not 2% or 1%. She's right!!! It NEEDS that fat. I use either canned milk OR one time I added 2 tbsp margarine to 1% milk....YUM...now I'm hungry for them!

Sounds exactly like my mom's recipe, except I use 3 cups quick oats
Me too, I use 3 cups of oats and bring mixture to boil and then take off heat and set for 1 min. then add P.But., vanilla and salt and oats.

I've been making these for years, my kids love them! No bake cookies is what we call them. My daughter called me last week to ask me how to make them. When ever she comes to visit she always wants a batch to take home.

this has been a fun thread. So many different names for the same sweet treat. I was given this receipe 45 years ago by a neighbor, and it was always a favorite of the kids and grandkids.( mine too) . I liked the suggestion of adding a little butter, and more oats would stretch them out some, but not sure about adding more to the measures I use. I wonder just how long that receipe has been around, and how many more years it will be passed on.
