Put in pot and boil for 5 minutes. Drizzle over slaw mixture.

Anne T - thank you for the recipe - it sounds very similar to a recipe I found in an old World War cookbook that I inherited from my mother (deceased). I remember it was so good except I do think it had dry mustard in it - you can do so much with that stuff. Anyway, thank you, it is that season again!

I only use regular Kraft Mayonnise, not the low fat one.
Finelly chop, grate or shred cabbage then stir in enough mayo to just stick to cabbage. You an grate carrot, chop bell pepper or even chop a little celery, whatever your family likes.
I don't add salt to slaw, it get droopy.

We haven't used any other mayonnaise based recipe since finding this one about 15 years ago. It says it is KFC Original Recipe. It does taste a lot like what we have gotten there. The website is here: http://www.askyourneighbor.com/recipes/376.htm
My kids just asked me to make it last week for a family BBQ.

I would like a good mayo recipe also.
Hi, I use Light Miricle Whip, add salt & pepper, a little lemon juice and sugar to taste. I substitute Splenda on both because my husband is now a diabetic. Also if you are making only a small amount of cole slaw decrease the amount accordingly. :-D Anne

The recipe posted by ncredbird does sound good, but I wouldn't have a use for the rest of the buttermilk I'd have to buy, so I've used this one for years:

    1/2 cup real mayonnaise
2-4 Tablespoons sugar, (start with smallest amount, adjust to your taste)
    1 1/2 teas. vinegar
milk to thin a little, if desired.

Combine all until sugar is dissolve. Thin with a little milk, if necessary, but keep in mind that the cabbage will exude a little water, so adding milk may not be needed. After mixing, let it set about 1/2 hour, then use your judgment.

I would use this for 1 small head cabbage, finely shredded.
