On dying eggs, especially if your doing lots for a hunt. I layer mine in a large cooking vessel and dump in 1 package of Koolaid and then put in my eggs to boil for exactly 10 min. Cool in cold water. Want designs, put on a line or 2 of birthday candles. draw your design.

This reminds me of an egg hunt when I was a little girl. Our minister was absolutely against any celebration at Easter...no new clothes, no special food, and no egg hunts. The Sunday School parents decided to hide colored eggs behind church (out in the countryside) on Saturday and we kids could find them after Sunday morning church service. We were so excited. We found the colored eggs and they broke all over our clothes and hands, and made a big mess. We saw our minister standing there laughing loudly. He had replaced the dyed hard-boiled eggs with dyed raw eggs. He thought it was hilarious. Our parents thought it was horrible. The next Easter we had eggs hunts at home.

Could you please tell us more about this method?
You must use silk ties, no other type. there is a tag on the ties that say they are silk. I hard boil my eggs first, they when they are cool or even the next day you
!. cut the large end of the tit off and remove the lining.
    2. wrap the egg with the right side of the tie toward the eggs, tie off with string or twist tie.
    3. then wrap the egg in a piece of wiate fabric, I used cheesecloth and tie off again.
    4. put in water with a tablespoon of vinegar, that is just ready to boil and leave for about 20 minutes. take out and lay on an old towel to cool. unwrap and oh, what a pretty sight.

Your very welcome. My brother and his family came over the weekend(ages 45-78) and we dyed eggs with the ties and they had a great time. My brother even made some. It sure was fun.

Oh My, that was an awful thing for that minister to do. I just can't imagine that at all. :-(

He seemed so full of hate. Wouldn't let his daughters finish high school or get drivers licenses, said females were merely "vessels for procreation", gave hour long sermons at weddings about duty, was always angry and demeaning etc. I joined a different church but returned for my 50 year Confirmation reunion. My husband never believed all the stories I told about my school days, but when he heard them from my friends he did. Took me a while to forgive all the insults but I did. Still can't forget so still praying. Sorry for the vent but it helps sometimes.
