4 slices of bacon chopped. Cook until almost crisp. Remove bacon, leave drippings Add 4T butter (over medium heat). Chop a small head of cabbage (about 25 oz.) and add to pan with 1/3 cup water. Cover and cook about 10-15 min. 'till cabbage is tender. Add the bacon and a CAN of corned beef (break it up). Heat thru, uncovered.
You know, I love to watch Paula Dean, but that lady has a bacon problem. I think she even puts it in her pies.

About an hour before we want to eat I cut my cabbage in wedges and put on top. The crock pot is a no fail way to go.
This is how I do mine and it always turns out great.
I have to say that the slow cooker/crock pot is the way to go. Since I love Corn Beef and cabbage with carrots...I make this alot in March...then I make Rueben Sandwiches...
    YUMMY!!!

After years of so-so corned beef I started cooking it in my pressure cooker. It comes out moist, tender and oh so flavorful.... AND it only takes a short time! Enjoy!

I've made it in the crock pot, stove and microwave. Main thing is to not have too much water, but enough!
this is a bit like corned beef hash which is very tasty, didn't realise c beef/cabb had anything to do with the Irish.

Always comes out really tender. Drain off fat from meat and use the juice to cook the cabbage.
